I think something the NFL might look at is making it so that guys who turn down the Pro Bowl don't get called "Pro Bowl selections". There's probably verbiage and triggers in player contracts that would motivate them to at least participate in the game that way.

They should look at ending the Pro Bowl instead. It's basically pointless.

Re: Pro Bowl Thread

This latest news shows the Pro Bowl is a crock of poop.

If the players won't take it seriously then why should we waste everyone's time with it? Maybe they should replace the Pro Bowl with a Rookies game like the NBA does before the ASG. At least the young guys will probably take it seriously and it'd allow for good coaching. I'd let former coaches in the NFL or college to coach the teams instead of current NFL coaches.

That's never going to happen. Every one of the big four American sports has an all-star game of some sort, and the NFL's isn't going away anytime soon, regardless of how pointless it may seem.

Well it's time for them to be the first league to end their's. With all the talk about moving to an 18 game sched, football basically becoming year round with almost no time off and just the physicality of the game it's pointless to have the players play an extra game that is meaningless.

Also, the fact that the whole reason for All Star Games is to see all the best players but nowadays we see all the best players every day on YouTube, Sportscenter, etc. so like I said, it's pointless.

I know it makes the NFL money from their sponsors but they can easily get the money from other things. I mean, they're the NFL, the biggest sports league in the world. Cutting off the Pro Bowl isn't going to kill them.

Those were way better, like the see who could throw the farthest? That was fun to watch.
