Its a shame he wont be a Jet. He was definitely a leader on and off the field. Good luck to him and whoever picks him up.

i think the reason the jets are willing to part ways with him besides the obvious to save money they can go after a top notch corner they are only 2 players away from being a contender.
and green showed he can be the main force.

as for jones destination it will more than likely be san diego
now the chargers are going to let go of sproles and will draft a rb in the draft.

Well the Jets are already a contender (made the playoffs... got to the AFC Championship Game).

But Jones will be 32 when the season begins. 32 year old running backs are not exactly eyed as the gems of Pro Football. Even though Jones had his best season yardage-wise, at his age at his position that wall-impact could happen at any moment and the Jets are probably not willing to take that risk. It also doesn't help Jones that they have Shonn Greene and they are very confident in his ability to take over.

Having said all of that, I think Thomas Jones still has something left though, and there are enough running games in need in this league where it would be worth the risk for him to step in and start.

TJ can't get no respect.

Seriously, four of the past five seasons, he's rushed for over 1200 yards and had over 4 yards-per-carry.

Not sure where he goes, but I assume he goes somewhere where he can contribute to a Super Bowl contender.
