And that's how you evaluate trades and acquisitions.

If Favre retired and the Vikings acquired Campbell, it'd be a big step down. If the Dolphins or Broncos acquired Campbell, it'd be little if any improvement. He was the 15th rated quarterback in the league last year, which is the definition of average.

However, he didn't go to a team with average quarterback play. He went to the team with the worst quarterback play, and by a pretty wide margin.

Jason Campbell may be only say, the 18th best QB in the NFL, but he's going to a team that would have started the 32nd best QB in the NFL.

Re: Campbell to the Raiders...

Have to wait and see how he plays...he has brain farts sometimes. He does miss WR downfield that are open. Been to a couple of games last year, had Thomas open many times down field, but decided to dish it out off to Betts. Hope Oakland can get him together, like everybody said, he's a good guy..He needs to be more vocal in the huddle. He has some fast wr out in Oakland now.

Also his buddy Rock cartwright signed with the Raiders yesterday;

Exactly. He could be a player who benefits from a change of scenery and does well. At the very least he is better than Bruce Gradkowski and JaMarcus Russell. When a team is rebuilding they do it first by wise moves, and this is a wise move.

Agreed. @ Matt.

The article basically said that Campbell strengths vs. his weakness. His strengths aren't suited for the West Coast offense. Zorn should have recognized that but didn't, that's one of the many reason's he got axed.

Way to go out on a limb with that prediction

The Raider's are rebuilding right now so, a 5-12 record wouldn't be surprising at all. However, this is the first year in a long time that I can say Oakland actually took a step in the right direction. When's the last time we can really say that?

This. I've watched Campbell play since his college days and he's a very capable starter. Much better that Bruce or JaFatcus.
I'm not saying that he's a top 10 QB or anything but, with that said he's not a bottom 10 starting QB in the league either, IMO.

Personally, a 5-12 record would shock the hell out of me.

I mean, making the playoffs at 5-11? I know the AFC West is bad, but that bad?

Re: Campbell to the Raiders...

To have a 5-12 record you would need to make the playoffs and lose is what he was getting at considering its a 16 game season.
