The best system is what ever one YOU like the best. Unless you own stock in one of the companys, it doesn't make sense to post sales figures etc. I like sports games and that is all I play. I think Xbox is better for that. But if I was into other types of games, I would have a PS2 also.

I agree with the earlier poster. Having the same machine as your buddies is important if you plan on playing online. If not, then what's the big deal? Even you said there's hardly any difference between the games, so should it nearly be a matter of pick-up-and-play for both systems once you're used to the respective controllers?
