Re: Is it time to worry for Indy?

I've been predicting Indy's demise for a while too... but I wouldn't read too much into this one as the Texans usually play the Colts tight. The Colts will probably lose at least 2 divisional games this year and that was one of them.

I do think we are at the end of their 12+ wins every season streak. The Colts will probably go 10-6 this year... maybe 8-8 next year. Age has a way of sneaking up on you and the Colts aren't getting any younger.

The Colts are old? I don't know the stats this year, but last year they were the 2nd youngest team in the league. 15 of the Colts 22 starters are in their 20's.

The age of a team should always be judged based on its core players. The Colts are old because Manning is old, and their window of opportunity closes more each year than it opens up.

He's 34. Brett Favre had his best year at like age 39 or 40 last year. I think the Colts are ok for awhile. They still have more receivers and tight ends to throw to than pretty much any team in the NFL. I think the only team that you can argue for is maybe the Saints.

They have Peyton, they'll be fine.

I definitely wouldn't consider Manning old. For most players, 34 is gettin up there. But for an all time great QB who never gets hit and has never even been injured, he's still got a lot of effective years left.

To be fair, he's been injured just hasn't missed any time due to injury. I agree though, Peyton could go for Favre career length, Peyton doesn't get near enough credit for his toughness and his game is more dependent on his mind and finesse than it is pure athleticism.

He gets beat up on his toughness because he always seems to get rattled when the other team is getting consistent pressure on him, since it's such a rarity. Credit it to his game, since he always gets the ball out quick and just has that other worldly pocket presence and awareness. I could totally see him playing until he's 40 and smashing every record in the book. With the way he handles getting hit and his insane work ethic of staying healthy, I don't see any reason why not.
