Re: Nate Newton's weight loss. Wow!

Is it just me or are people losing weight like the Bills lose Super Bowls? (terrible, I know)

Im happy for him for sure, but damn. Im not gonna fire off a list, but seems like a lot of people are losing tons of weight. From Actors to athletes. I saw Seth Rogan on Conan the other night and he isn't even the same person.

I guess these weight loss surgeries are in vogue.

Good for him.

Losing weight is extremely simple, just don't overeat and exercise a little.

Good for him but it would have been impressive if he did it WITHOUT surgery.

I know some moron is going to call me a "hata" or whatever the kids are saying these days, but if you had to have surgery in order to lose weight because you were too lazy to otherwise, I am not impressed. At all.

But the surgery essentially forces him to not overeat and what not. I think it takes just as much of a man to realize that he has a problem with overeating and to get something done about it, if he wants to do the surgery then good for him, at least he's making a change in his life.

Having been a person who's fought weight issues all my life I would like to respectfully say: Be quiet because you don't know what you're talking about.

Diet and exercise isn't enough for some body builds, and in the case of Newton - a large bodied football player with previous injuries that probably affect his ability to exercise - surgery is sometimes the best case scenario. Not every genetic physical makeup is the same and not all of us metabolize food, burn calories, lose weight, put on muscle, etc in the same way because if we did we'd all have the same build.

Congrats to big Nate for his dramatic weight loss. He's not only drastically improved his long-term health but he's also saved himself a lot of daily wear and tear from not having to carry around a 300+ pound frame.
