The league locked the players out, so the players were no longer being tested for any drugs as far as I know. If they did anything that the cops didn't find out about, the league could do nothing. I believe they could take steroids as long as they were legally obtained.

Conduct rules still were said to be in place, but the NFLPA has contested those statements and there will probably be something in the CBA addressing it.

No chance of that at all.

Exactly.

Don't see how some can think otherwise.

I never suggested Goodell would.

The league locked out a decertified union who was suing them, the players took the lead in this labor dispute. There was no drug testing program, no free rides home, etc. Doesn't mean that when the drug testing program fires back up that detecting league-banned substances won't result in appropriate punishment even if they're otherwise legal.

That's what is in my post isn't it?

I think the Rooneys are well within their right to fine/bench Harrison for whatever length of time they see fit. Same goes for Ward and to a lesser extent Mendenhall.
I don't see some heavy handed benching or releasing of Mendenhall, but if you don't think he's going to get talked to when Tomlin is done with the mess that Harrison and Ward have gotten themselves into you're kidding right?

In the end he's representing a very proud franchise, and his comments were at a bad time and ill-received. It won't just be forgotten by the Rooney's when he gets back to work, even if it's just a conversation.

True, but as long as they knew what they were doing and don't have anything left in them, they couldn't be punished for whatever they did.
