OKAY, it makes sense now: Brandon Marshall Diagnosed w/Mental Disorder

I don't know how most feel about Brandon Marshall. He's certainly had spells in his career where "idiot" would definitely fit. Personally, I always liked the guy. When I saw him in the quiet moments I thought he came off as engaging and as a genuinely good guy at heart. Sure you could say that about many a**holes, but... just my observations. He came off as a kid screaming for help to me.

He was recently diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Much respect for recognizing that he has a problem and more for taking steps to correct it.

Being that I work in the mental health field, I know it can be so difficult to acknowledge having a mental disorder. I'm not saying that he is my favorite player or that I even like him at all, but I most definitely respect his willingness to share this with everyone.

Agreed. BPD is also really difficult to diagnose correctly, so I'm sure it's a relief for him to finally have a name to what he's experienced. Good for him for getting help

Major props and great respect for him. Even better is he doesn't appear to be reading off a card or through an agent. I've always been a fan of his on the field, but his off the field personality always felt weird now it's understandable why.

Couple his BPD with the lingering guilt he's had to deal with since Darrent Williams' death, and his issues make a lot more sense now.

I remember seeing his press conference earlier today on the nfl network. At first I found it extremely awkward because he honestly isn't a good public speaker and sounded kind of "slow", but as I listened longer, I realized how he was trying to raise people's awareness of BPD and admitted that he had a mental disorder. It was actually very touching to see what he was trying to do and I applaud him for being brave and going out there with the public.
