Re: Official NFL Injury Thread

AP placed on IR today.

Eligible to be taken off of IR on 11/20.

Excuse my ignorance but why does the NFL make players stay on IR for a set period of time even if the player is no longer injured before that time is up? I think a player is required to be on IR for a minimum of eight weeks, right?

They don't count against the roster limit when they're on IR. Probably a bit more specific with the number of players on the practice squad, but not entirely sure on that front.

Until a few years ago placing a player on IR meant done for the season with no exception.

This was a compromise and you can only pull one player off of the IR a season so if they were to want to pull AP off when he's eligible it means any other Viking placed on IR is done for the year.

Really no different than any other sport, they all have restrictions as to how long a player can stay on an injured list.

Manti Te'o the latest Charger down.

@nfldraftscout
That does not look good for Manti Te'o. Non-contact injury. Holding his ankle.

Really tired of a major injury to a starter every week. Gates out today as well.

The Chargers and Bills have to have the worst luck in the world when it comes to injuries.
