With 1-2 seasons you can really get to see what a real QB is like. If you wait to long they cold have one bad season or get a major injury.

Re: Is there a set time needed to evaluate a QB?

I'd like to look at Eli Manning. His first 3 and a half years were disappointing. I remember thinking this guy will never win a super bowl. I would laugh feeling sorry for the players that were on his team.

It really wasn't until his 2007 week 17 game against the Patriots and during that playoff run where he actually started playing brilliantly.

So he's a perfect example of how some quarterbacks really need as much as 3+ years before they starting playing at a higher level as long as that may seem.

But these days, we fans are so critical of every player that we're ready to call them a bust after a bad season.
