The Pats didn't even play 7 teams that finished .500 or better, much less beat any of them. They lost to the Giants, Steelers and beat the Ravens. That's it.

Re: NFC Championship Game: New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers

You have to be 9-7 or better to be over .500.

The Pats didn't beat anyone with a winning record in the regular season until they beat the Ravens in the post season.

The 49ers went 13-3 on the season. They played 5 playoff teams and went 4-1 in the regular season. SF beat the Bengals, Lions, Steelers, and the Giants. Then, in the post season they beat the Saints. That put us at 5-1 against playoff teams. Kyle Williams helped us beat ourselves to finish 6-1 [5-2] against playoff teams.

The way the 49ers play defense, NE was the better match up for SF. The Ravens would have been a lot more difficult. Now, the 49ers would not have played the ravens on a VERY short week [3 days off?!?] in Baltimore like they did in the Regular season.

I love ignorance. The 49ers were 8-1 after week 10 having played ONE NFC West team. The Rams, Seahawks, Buccs, Browns, and Skins had a losing record. The Cardinals, Cowboys, and Eagles were all 8-8. Had those teams beat the 49ers, they would have had winning records [9-7 or better] and the playoffs would have looked a lot different. The Bengals, Steelers, Ravens, Giants, and Lions all had winning records and the 49ers went 3-1 against them. They beat the hot 5-0 Lions AT Detroit. They didn't have the most difficult schedule, but by winning games they made it look easier. That's the funny thing about "tough schedules." They aren't so tough when you beat almost everyone and add to their loss total.

Then with all the talk about the NFC West being easy... and the East being the toughest division in football, the 49ers went 3-1 against the East and very well could have beaten the Cowboys. I loved it when mid way through the season one NFL network ***** actually asked if the 49ers could beat a team like the Eagles... 4 weeks after they already did. People live in their little bubble and anything outside of it doesn't matter.

I also loved listening to ESPN Collin Cowherd when he was talking about the East and West Coast in Sports. He was trying to cliam that the East coast simply wins more championships, so that;s why they get more credit... after having talked about the 49ers 5 rings and 12 NFC Championship game appearances, how the Lakers are [tied?] with the Celtics for NBA titles. No one care about baseball when the Yankees have 40 [FOURTY!!!] World serise appearances. That isn't the east coast, that's one team making the rest of the league irrelevant. Yet, despite that, the Okland A's make a lot of CS games over the decades.

Fianally, since 1999 the Rams have gone to the Big dance twice, the Cards and Seahawks went, and the 49ers were on the door step. Had the 49ers gone, the NFC West would have represented the NFC more than any other division since the rearrangement of the conferences... but they didn't.

Mann he's just doing everything in his power to discredit the 49ers. Cherry picking whatever he can find to not give them their due. They played great all season an against top competition. I'm sure after they beat the Saints in the playoffs this year everyone finally jumped on the bandwagon but because they offense had a poor showing against a very very hot Giants defense now some are trying to discredit the 49era again. Even with their poor offensive showing they still had chances to beat the Giants. The way this team is built, they can be good for years as long as Smith is at least average, but then again you can say that about any teams QB. He shown this year an against the Saints that he can be pretty damn good.
