Re: Possible end to Pro Bowl

Just talk to Bud Selig. I'm sure he'll have a great idea to make the players try harder.

They should play it during halftime of the superbowl.

Re: Possible end to Pro Bowl

I haven't watched a Pro Bowl since 2000 or so.

This would not bother me in the least.

Of course, they never will simply because you never want a player to get injured in a meaningless game.
How would they make it a real game? It's an all-star game, it's played at the end of the season, and there's absolutely nothing on the line.

The last thing I mentioned is the biggest issue, but how would they go about addressing that? It's not like they can make it like the MLB All-Star Game (the only half-decent ASG left) and have home-field advantage for the championship game on the line.

Re: Possible end to Pro Bowl

they should just bring back the skills competition, that was always fun to watch. much more fun than the actual game.

the pro-bowl is just boring as heck to watch, basically because what makes football exciting is the defense and watching big hits, good tackles, fumbles, interceptions, spectacular catches which wouldnt be spectacular unless somebody was defending. basically everything we love about football requires D, which in the pro bowl they dont play.

this is why NBA and MLB all-star games are more exciting, in the NBA you can be entertained slightly more by all offense, no defense. heck some teams play like that in real games(cough knicks). and in MLB there isnt as much of an injury risk so they can play like normal.

so in short, go ahead and cancel, wont bother me much

Re: Possible end to Pro Bowl

NBA is kinda fake too though, cause they play no D until the end of the game. Plus they're trying for all this fancy crap constantly. Of course it's a million times better and more entertaining than the horrendous pro bowl though.

But the MLB all star game is played the exact same as a regular baseball game (because It's not a physical sport), so that makes it the best.

The way it's handled with the home field adv in the WS going to the winner, the way the benches and substitutions are handled, you might not agree with (I don't), but that's another matter entirely.
