Where are you getting murder from? Stallworth hit a jaywalker, wasn't even arrested at the scene because he didn't appear impaired and passed the roadside sobriety test. Only a blood test showed he was legally above the limit so charges were brought against him to reflect that. At all times accepted responsibility for his actions, spent 24 days in jail, 1k hours community service, 8 years probation and will never have a license again.

I dont think I said murder...I said "killed a man" repeatedly. He was convicted of manslaughter. I dont even know why you are even addressing whether he accepted responsibility or not because I've never mentioned that,

What ive said is he killed a man and got a year suspension. Vilma participated in a bounty program and got a year suspension. If you think thats fair, thats fine. I dont.

Inconsistency is/has been a problem in the NFL.

The sky is blue. Either way, I see no problem with Vilma getting 16 games.

@Daymon, I don't think you can play the off the fiend stuff. Look what he did to the Bengals when he first became commish. Like PPM said, Pacman was gone for like a year. So I don't think the off/on field stuff applies.

Vilma:

I INTEND TO FIGHT THIS INJUSTICE, TO DEFEND MY REPUTATION, TO STAND UP FOR MY TEAM AND MY PROFESSION AND TO SEND A CLEAR SIGNAL TO THE COMMISSIONER THAT THE PROCESS HAS FAILED, TO THE DETRIMENT OF ME, MY TEAMMATES, THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS AND THE GAME.

Plenty of guys have gotten punishments longer than Stallworth for things that weren't as severe, relatively speaking. That's nothing new.

With help from the Associated Press, by way of ESPN Stats & Information, here’s a list of the longest non-substance-abuse suspensions in NFL history:
  • Art Schlichter, life, suspended one year for gambling in 1983, never reinstated
  • Merle Hapes, eight years, suspended for conversing with known gambler in 1946, reinstated in 1954
  • Frank Filchock, three years, suspended for conversing with known gambler in 1947, reinstated in 1950
  • Michael Vick, two years, two games, suspended indefinitely in 2007 after pleading guilty to role in dogfighting
  • Plaxico Burress, two years, suspended for duration of jail term in 2009 after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon
  • Donte’ Stallworth, one year, suspended for one year after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter in 2009
  • Paul Hornung, one year, suspended one year for gambling in 1963
  • Alex Karras, one year, suspended one year for gambling in 1963
  • Adam Jones, one year, suspended one year for violating Personal Conduct Policy in 2007

Those suspensions all involved off-field actions. Here is the list of the longest NFL suspensions for on-field incidents:

It's funny to me that you have people crying for a lifetime ban for elbowing a guy in the NBA and here, you have people complaining that 16 games is too much for organizing a bounty program.

Vick and Burress dont count because they were in jail most of their suspensions and werent eligble to play. The gambling suspensions were pre-Goodell and are not relevant.
