Re: NFL Off Topic

What was his reasoning? Definitely isn’t going to be because of the reasons we’ve been talking about.. ratings are already declining and if that continues the league is going to have to change some things, in particular cleaning up the rules a bit, to get the fans back.

Only way would be if CTE proves to be too serious of a problem to play the game to the point that college and high schools shut down their programs. Even then the NFL would still be around or other private leagues but probably wouldn’t have much fan support or players and then would die out. That’s how I’d see it going anyway if it were to die.

It's definitely the CTE issue. I've seen statistics that show that youth participation in football has been declining over the last few years. Even the traditionally strong football regions are seeing some decline. It isn't surprising though, parents don't want their kids risking their long term health in the name of football.

Yeah not surprising, but sad to see. Hopefully they can prove CTE to not be as serious as some say, I need my football man lol. But honestly don’t blame parents. If I had a kid or when I have one I’d think twice about letting them play too at this point anyway.

That's not really how this works. CTE has been around for nearly a century and is an effect of brain trauma, not a cause.

The real question will be how long/how much can you play before your brain develops the markers for CTE?
