Texans in the top 10 in 3 out of 4? Boy, it sure doesn't feel like it.

If you wanted to take the time I think 3rd down efficiency is a very telling stat also.

Put up 3rd down efficiency, Pats, Broncos, and Falcons are top 3 as expected.

Even with what may be considered a down year by Brees even with a bad defense opposed to one of the worst defenses of all time they probably make the playoffs. Of course the offense still blew it at times especially in that 0-4 start with the shoddy blocking, drops, missed fgs,etc

I think the Colts, or at least this is what I heard, are the best in the league on 3rd and long(10 or more yards). Hell they completed a 3rd and 23 against Houston.

I found a similar stat on the Washington Post's website. The stat is %1st Down/Pass Att, 3rd & 8+. According to the Post, Andrew Luck ranks 2nd in first down percentage (39.5%) and 1st in total conversions (32).

http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/l...e=NFL&rank=047

That stat starts at 3rd & 8 and only includes pass attempts, so it's possible Indy ranks higher if you start at 3rd & 10, but either way it's very impressive how successful Luck and the Colts have been on 3rd and long. It's even more impressive when you look at how some of the other rookie QBs have done in the same situation.
