NFL Division Realignment Idea

Some of these divisions in the NFL are messed up. There should be a realignment to better place teams geographically. However, it will mess up some big rivalries. Here is my idea, post your thoughts:

AFC East:
New England
NY Jets
Buffalo
Baltimore

AFC North:
Cincinnati
Cleveland
Pittsburgh
Indianapolis

AFC South:
Jacksonville
Tennessee
Houston
Miami

AFC West:
San Diego
Oakland
Denver
Kansas City

NFC East:
NY Giants
Philadelphia
Washington
Carolina

NFC North:
Green Bay
Minnesota
Detroit
Chicago

NFC South:
Atlanta
Tampa Bay
New Orleans
Dallas

NFC West:
St. Louis
San Francisco
Seattle
Arizona

Again, it takes away some of the best divisional rivalries, but it makes sense geographically.

Uhhh, don't you think that's why they ended up the way they did? Trying to split up Dallas from NY, Philly, and Washington is asking to be burned at the stake. We have these things called planes. The obsession with geographic perfection needs to go to the wayside.

If you were actually going to realign for geography, ditch AFC/NFC and go East/West.

EXACTLY

The NFL has realigned a couple times and every time they've done it to keep the integrity of long time rivalries. The teams that have been moved around to other divisions for geographic concerns never really had that strong of a rivalry with any of the clubs in their division. Indy wasn't anyone's great rival in the AFC east. The Cardinals were punching bags in the very strong NFC East and Atlanta, while they had something of a rivalry with the Niners for a minute was out of place in the NFC West.

The only controversial move was switching Seattle to the NFC West but it seems to have paid off nicely.

And Seattle had history as they started in the NFC so it wasn't arbitrary like when the Brewers switched leagues. I never quite understood why they did that. Should have just put Seattle in the AFC West to begin with and put Tampa in the NFC West. With Atlanta and New Orleans, that wouldn't have been terrible. Carolina managed for 7 years.

Absolutely not.

The NFL is perfect as is. No need to change it up.

Re: NFL Division Realignment Idea

I don't see why this is necessary unless it's to re-org to accommodate some form of expansion.
