He's improved as a passer. Last Year to this year not close. You can see the improvement. He has Romo like evading the rush like skills as well.

I'd still only draft him Mid-Late 1st (I know he'll likely go higher tho)

Baggage stuff really doesn't matter if he can play. (I don't think he has any either.)

Bortles looked like an NFL QB in the second half of the Fiesta Bowl. Shook off 2 first half picks to win the first ever BCS bowl game for his team.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread

I do see why some are hyping Manziel up and he does have a lot of potential but he has a lot of outside risk factors as explained by another poster. The other thing that i'm not so sure will translate well in the NFL is the fact that he takes big risks running out of the pocket recklessly when he could use his feet to stay around the pocket area THAN run out. If he plays as recklessly in the NFL as he does in college he's gonna get his bell rung.

If he can keep his head on straight and stay out of trouble he should do well but it really depends on where he goes.

I agree with this.

I'd also like to point out that Houston has the #6 offensive line in the NFL in terms of pass protection. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol I think if Manziel gets good protection, he won't have to run around and make plays as much as he does in college. Also, Houston plays in a division with only one decent pass-rushing team - the Colts, and Mathis is getting old. My point is that I think he'll have more time in the pocket to make plays with his arm and won't have to rely on his legs so much - if he goes to Houston.

Manziel will be great in the NFL imo. He'll embarrass NFL players trying to sack him much like RG3, Wilson, Cam all did. The thing I worry about Manziel is his prayer balls. When in doubt he just throws it up to Evans and more than not he gets bailed out. That wont work in the NFL unless he goes to the Lions.

I feel like as a prospect Manziel is very similar to RG3. He's not as fast but is more shifty.

I know the Rams are just sitting back waiting for a team to absolutely fall for one of the quarterbacks. They may hit the jackpot again.

Or Chicago. But alas, DA BEARS resigned Senor Cutler for 7 years. Thank God.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft Discussion Thread

So with the Texans signing Bill O Brien, there is already word he is bringing in his staff from Penn St. If Phillips is gone in Houston, this could open the door for Houston to possible look at Jadeveon. He likes to run a 4-3 which could change the Texans Draft. Not saying they dont need a QB, but could they possibly pick up a QB with a trade back into the latter part of the 1st round
