Week 2: Detroit Lions (1-0) @ Carolina Panthers (1-0)

Should be a good one!

Lions looked good against the Giants on MNF...on both sides of the ball.

Cam Newton will be a go per Riverboat Ron.

I want to see us open up the run game here and cut down the penalties. Panthers are tougher than the Giants overall. Cam is better than Eli, though I still don't know how scary their passing game really is. Should be a fun watch.

Re: Week 2: Detroit Lions (1-0) @ Carolina Panthers (1-0)

I have both Stafford and Newton on my fantasy team so this poses an interesting matchup. Stafford, Megatron and the Lions looked impressive last night other than all of the penalties. If Newton starts, I don't think he'll be 100% yet. If Suh, Fairley and others can pressure, hit and sack Newton, it'll definitely reduce SuperCam's impact. The Lions held the Giants to 14 points, but I think that's more on the lack of ability for NY's offense than the skill of the Lions defense. I predict a Lions win, but it should be close; the Lions (#2) and the Panthers (#4) are top five passing defenses at this point (it's early, I know, and it was against the Giants and Buccaneers, sure.)

Megatron might go for 200 and 4 TDs against Carolina's secondary. Stafford should literally just throw it up to him all day.

I would love to predict a 2-0 start for Carolina, but I just can't see it

Isn't that what he does already?

Naw, he tries to find Pettigrew and Bush, but they usually just drop it.

I can see it. The Lions are historically tough at home in the dome... even during their bad years. The Giants were obviously still in preseason form. Taking nothing away from the Lions, they have a really good team, but I don't think they're as good as they looked on Monday... especially not on defense.

Not that the Panthers are world beaters either but they are at home, Cam will be back, the D will be a bigger challenge to DET. I think this will be a great game that could go either way.

Good points. The Giants are tough to gauge a defense's ability because they're so poor on offense. I almost, kinda want Derek Anderson to play. I think he's got a better rapport with the WRs due to all of the reps he got with them in the off-season while Cam was recovering.

Hopefully the D-Line can put pressure on Stafford and make him make some poor decisions/throws and the D can take advantage.
