RIP: "The Snake" is probably one of the most underrated quarterbacks in NFL history. Doesn't get a lot of love, but he was an amazing gunslinger.

I watched him too....the man was clutch. It's a disgrace he's not in the HOF.

Backup QB on two Bama National Champions, then when it came his turn as starter he led Bama to an untied undefeated season, but finished 3rd in the polls. The Bear said this, the '66 team, was his best team ever.
Plays don't get any better than the "Run in the Mud", in the Iron Bowl.

I had always assumed he was in the HOF. As a side note living about 30 miles from Tuscaloosa and you wouldn't believe how many Bama fans who have no idea who he is.
