Best Commentary Duo?

I was driving home, listening to Kevin Harlan and Boomer Esiason call the KC/NE game when I realized how much they meshed together. Not just with voice, but knowledge of the game. I've always liked Kevin and had never heard him call an NFL game until tonight, and I can honestly say I was quite impressed.

That being said: who do you all think is/was the best commentating team in the NFL? I'd have to go with Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts for CBS and Joe Buck and Troy Aikman for FOX, mostly because they've called some memorable games.

(Also: take into account that I'm a young buck; at twenty years old, I haven't heard Cosell or Trumpy all that much. I only knew of Summerall and Madden from the older Madden games.)

Buck and Aikman.

I'll fight anyone that says otherwise.

Re: Best Commentary Duo?

For entertainment purposes the original MNF team of Gifford/Cosell/Meredith were the best as they oftentimes had some great moments together even if they were sometimes quite contentious off the air.

Madden and Summerall to me are a great bridge between the eras of stripped down "boring" announcing and the more personality driven stuff we saw for most of the '90s and early '00s. Summerall could call it up the middle while Madden would inject some life into the broadcast while still being very informative. They were great friends on the air and off.

These days, i'd say Michaels and Collinsworth are the best though Michaels isn't what he once once he still has the professionalism without taking the game TOO seriously.

Re: Best Commentary Duo?

I like many of the NFL announce crews. Other sports there might be one or two national ones which are great, but nfl has nice amount of good ones all around.

Guys like Harlan and Eagle are great in either sport. And the main teams on national games are great too. As much as people hate him, I actually like Joe Buck. Buck and Aikman duo are good. NBC's with Michaels and Collinsworth are great too. And I did like the old Nantz and Simms duo as well.

Even sideline reporters are good too, mainly Andrews and Oliver.

Compared to other sports, NFL does have best overall broadcast teams. NBA on TnT still got them beat in terms of halftime and post/pregame shows.

Summerall and Madden was my all time favorite, currently I enjoy Eagle and Fouts the most.
