That's almost like 2.7k per game.

Nobody is expecting 100k or anything like that, but even 5k per week would've been better. CFL will be paying more than the XFL.
that's how you keep your league from folding after a few weeks

if the league is successful salaries will likely be renegotiated, but for now, to keep things afloat, it's gonna be peanuts

XFL is back!!!

Quite a conundrum. League can’t pay players, players don’t generally want to play for peanuts now that we know their bodies and minds get wrecked from the game.

Tie it to league revenue/profit? Everyone’s invested.

Yeah right.

The first wave potentially leads the way, establishes the league, and sees nothing for it while the successors benefit. It’s noble, but it’s not paying the bills today. Unless they somehow negotiate some type of royalty deal or something where they are paid further down the line. I just don’t see that happening. Business doesn’t work that way, but it likely won’t work at all without a system like that in place.

I think they're pretty fun. It'll be cool to see kick/punt returns mean something again. They've gotten a lot of positive feedback on Twitter at least.
