Rules

Seems this is a blueprint for failure.

Less than a year away from when its scheduled to start and it is not even known what cities will have teams? Is there a draft date yet?

There are probably a lot of legitimate reasons to ignore the AAF, but this isn't one of them.

Kickoffs are almost completely inconsequential in the NFL anymore. Something like half of them are pointless touchbacks; heck, the Panthers achieved touchbacks on 85% of their kickoffs last year. Honestly the NFL should get rid of them too. Not even talking about for safety reasons - though getting rid of the most dangerous play in the game will have the side benefit of making the game safer - but it is incredibly rare anymore that anything of consequence happens on a kickoff play.

Just spare us the pomp and circumstance, put the offense on the 25, and start playing again, IMO.

Jon Bois of SBNation goes into this much more thoroughly and much better than I can (and he covers the loss of the onside kick and proposals to replace it).
