Re: Week 10 Discussion Thread

Is it really a uniquely Steeler or Tomlin trait though?

As a Steeler fan myself...it really is both.

Bad playcalling because we get cocky going in leads to us struggling. Our DEF has to do everything they can to pick up the scraps, but we have been lacking in everything offense-wise (except our run game, Najee is a godsend to our offense).

And like steelerfan mentioned, it didn't help we had a not-so-great backup QB play (even if Big Ben was in, his throwing ability has been dampened all season).

We really need to take every team seriously and invest in a solid QB. Ben is a foot and a half in retirement already.

I meant the tendency to lay an egg every year.

Thats not a uniquely Steeler thing. That happens to most teams. Patriots dynasty may be the only team that didn't have that, and its a large part of their success.

Re: Week 10 Discussion Thread

Nah, the Pats had a few of em during those years and then we would proceed to use that one game as some sort of indicator of “The Pats are done! The dynasty is over!” only to be proven wrong time and time again.

Ah, thought those were primarily limited to playoff loses

My bad, I misread the context

Then no it's not unique to Steelers; HOWEVER, I feel like they are the most susceptible to it. Same thing happened last year. We got cocky with a great W/L standings and then we allowed ourselves to get knocked out by shallow teams.

I still believe Tomlin has an effect on it but I could just be biased.

They would always do it in September and it would be forgotten once they were grinding people in December and January. I mean, they got blown out by Matt Patricia's Lions and still won the Super Bowl that year.
