Re: The Official 2024-25 Season Talk Thread

Marner scored OT winner vs Sweden in the 4 nations

Then assisted on the McDavid golden goal in Boston

Now less than a week after that assist, Marner gets the OTW vs the Bruins in Boston

Outscored 19-7 since the return from the break and 2nd last in the east in terms of points, last in point percentage.
Who is actually movable? Rakell would probably have takers, I guess.

I know you've complained (and not without cause) that the Leafs' last few regular seasons have been pointless. Not this time. Win your division, play Detroit/Ottawa/Columbus, let Florida and Tampa beat each other up.

Karlsson apparently could be a name they're trying to move. Obviously good luck moving a 10m dman in his mid 30s.

Can't believe Pens have Crosby and Malkin for under 15m combined and can't build around that.

That would be best case scenario, but with 25 or so games left and a deadline still to come, anything can happen.

But Panthers missing Tkachuk for a while, that's the opportunity the Leafs need to win now while the Panthers probably aren't winning as many games as they should.

All that bellyaching over the years lol, eventually it turns around in your favor

Flyers blew out PIT and they’re starting to do their thing where they get me all excited about coming close to contention but when they finally get in position, they crap themselves. So I’m still chalking this as a lost season and if they make a run here, I’m on board but I won’t expect it.

Headed to SEA @ PHI in a couple weeks with the best seats I’ve ever had in my 34 years on this rock so if they’re fighting for the playoffs it’ll be a nice boost.

The Leafs will probably/hopefully wind up like the Caps.

Took the Caps a decade in to the Ovechkin era before they won a cup, only getting as far as the 2nd round before that.

And haven't made it out of the 1st round since. So overall, in a 25 year span they've only made it out of the 2nd round once, but that once was when they won the cup.

Even the Blues, from 02-present they've made it past the 2nd round a total of 2 times. But one of those times was the cup.

Sure it'd be nice to be like the Lightning, Hawks, Pens and so on, but it's obviously so tricky too.
