Quinn Hughes originally selected for team USA but opted out due to injury

McAvoy is now out so reports said Hughes is on route to Boston as the 7th dman and will play only if someone else gets hurt

Now reports say Hughes WON'T travel to Boston and is at Canucks practice and won't even go to Boston unless he's for sure playing.

Saw Hughes wasn’t cleared, and USA has a full roster unless someone got sick real quick. They’re bringing Pesce and Tage Thompson to Boston as reinforcements if needed.

Mad respect to McAvoy for putting his body on the line. I read he hurt his shoulder against FIN but you can’t tell me those body rocking hits he laid against Canada didn’t get that shoulder infection on the fast track. Hoping for a full recovery.

Puck drop in 14 hours. I’m more excited for this rematch than I was for the Super Bowl. This event has delivered.

This is definitely the biggest hockey game in 15 years.

Most guys on either team weren't even 18 yet the last time we had a game this big.

And going further back, a number of guys on these teams weren't even old enough to remember the last time we had this big Canada vs USA game on US ice (2002 Olympics).

Man, I don't know if we're gonna win this game, but the USA just won the national anthem. Boston Pops + amazing opera singer. Wow.

American fans didn't know if they should cheer or boo Gretzky.

Canada getting booed big time in this. Even the anthem is booed, and the anthem singer randomly tried emphasizing certain words to dig at the US... This is more fun than any Stanley cup final!

Don't think this game will be bigger than 02 or 2010 Olympics, but it's the biggest non Olympic hockey game I can ever remember.

This is why international hockey is the best for both countries.

US/Canada are never getting this kind of rivalry in any other sport. Football isnt an international thing, basketball at the Olympics they're the top country and don't have any rivalry like this, and baseball even though a few countries all have shots at winning in the WBC, there's no bad blood like this.

This is basically World Cup level of fan/country bad blood where every country hates every country.
