Bettman Press Conference at 3:30

I don't know what the bastard's going to say but hopefully he finally sets a deadline to cancel the season. The circus has to stop sometime soon.

Re: Bettman Press Conference at 3:30

Bettman had a conference call (the stations I was watching cut it off after a few questions from the media).

He didn't give a dropdead date but he said if they aren't drafting documents by this weekend there isn't enough time to have a season.

He said the NHL offered to go with the NHLPA's proposal but the NHL added 4 triggers (I don't remember all of them, but one was where 3 teams went over 42 mil in salary) and if one of them happened, then the CBA would go back to the NHL's proposal. Of course the NHLPA rejected this.

Both sides might meet tonight, and they also plan to meet tommorow.

Man they should just call the season off, declare an impasse and put in replacement players.

I've also heard that the Mighty Ducks are up for sale. If I were Bettman i'd let the team be sold for something like 5 Million dollars so as to show how bad things are on the ownership side. I've heard that they're going to protect their investments so the team won't be sold for bargain basement price.

An impasse might be hard to get. I know Vancouver doesn't allow replacement players according to labor law. I have a hard time picturing people paying money to see scabs. I know I won't.

Actually Bettman has to step in if the Ducks are going to be unloaded for scraps because it hurts the value of all the other clubs. The NHL would just run the Ducks if Disney just wanted to dump it.

Re: Bettman Press Conference at 3:30

That's true about the Ducks but remember the St. Louis Blues were once such a moribound team that it was sold for 3 million bucks in I think 1980 to a guy that was going to put the team in Saskatoon. The NHL agreed to the deal then reneged on it and eventually Harry Orness bought the team.

Something like that should happen with the Ducks or any other team just to show the players that the league isn't BSing them.

This is too bad, But I saw this coming over a year ago.

Any predictions on how much time is missed next year? I predict a season next year with less than 40 games, at best.
