What's truly scary about his talent is that he put up 73 goals as a WHL rookie! That's like 90 goals in the OHL or 100 goals in the QMJHL.

Checking on hockeydb.com he recorded over 30 goals in 50+ KHL games two seasons ago. It's not easy scoring goals in that league.
No doubt if this guy had his head on straight he could have been a dandy.
Like Brian Burke once said about Fedor Fedorov, 'all the tools but no toolbox'.
Yeah. I've heard it too. It is really sad that those kind of great players have that kind of an attitude and destroy their career's like that. And he has played well in the KHL if you look that. I think he could be a 40-50 goal man in the NHL.

Put Ovie's heart in him and I'm sure he could break 60.
Sad to see that kind of talent pissed away.

my choice he may not be the worst but he fell short of expectations for sure
ERIC LINDROS
Lindros won the Hart Trophy as league MVP. How can anyone who wins the Hart be considered a bust?

His hype was MASSIVE though, people were saying he would be the next Gretzky/Mario. He didn't come close to being the next Gretzky or Lemeuix, but he had a productive career and wasn't really a bust, just massive expectations.

I agree.

This is just my opinion, but I think that is the problem with Czech's, they have great skillls, but not all of them have the work ethic to be in the NHL.

Re: Biggest Draft Bust in NHL History

I agree it's a bit harsh to call Eric Lindros a bust, but I can see where Pringles is coming from...I remember Lindros getting Crosby-esque hype, and expectations for his career were just astronomical. Of course, that's not his fault, but holding out after Quebec drafted him added fuel to the fire, and the Herschel Walker-like bounty for his services which more-or-less set up the Nordiques--> Avalanche for many subsequent Cup-runs became an albatross that followed him for years thereafter.

Having said that, he did win the Hart trophy and got his team to the Stanley Cup Finals, and repeated concussions curtailed his productive years, so bust isn't quite accurate. Disappointing career, though, based on what was expected of him? I think you would have a good argument.
