They are exactly what NHL is looking for in a market, all they need is arena and ownership group.

If they do get a team, I wouldn't be surprised if NHL rushed the move. Like play in old arena for however long until new one is built. Old arena still better than Coyotes or canes current one.
I think the NHL was hoping an ownership group would emerge when they announced their latest round of expansion which is why we're only getting one new team instead of two. I don't think the league is eager to return to Quebec City for a number of reasons.

I don't like it because it seems....not particularly tough? I dunno. I know there are plenty of teams that don't necessarily have 'tough' sounding names, but "Emeralds" just seems a bit weak to me.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Sounds like Kovalchuk wants to return to the NHL. Scenarios look like it'd be either:

1.He returns to play for the Devils
2.Returns to the Devils but then a S&T is worked out where he goes to another team
3.Returns to another NHL team if all 30 other teams agree to it

Given what they did with Radulov and the fact they really need scoring, maybe the Habs would go after him?

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

ESPN laying off lots of people.

Among those layoffs, seems like they're completely gutting their already limited hockey coverage. Would be surprising if ESPN even bothers with hockey anymore after this(not like they cared much about it in the first place).

Among the notable NHL reporters fired was Pierre Lebrun. Not that he's gonna be out of a job for long. Probably just goes to NBC and also sticks around with his occasional TSN appearances too.

I'll never get why ESPN doesn't care as much about hockey. I know ESPN doesn't have NHL rights anymore, but they put literally everything ahead of NHL. Golf, NASCAR, WNBA, College sports, E-Sports, Spelling Bees and everything get higher priority on ESPN than NHL. Surely if the media pushes and hypes up NHL more, it'd help the league wouldn't it? Instead, they're basically just buried by a network like ESPN and will be completely ignored now.
