Re: NHL 2015/16 Regular Season

BTW, is it wrong of me to hope and pray that Auston Matthews pulls an Eric Lindros and refuses to play for Edmonton?
I really, really hope that happens if the Oilers get the 1st overall pick.

Well if McDavid didn't do it, I find it hard to believe that Matthews would.

But yeah, it would be something to see that. Even though, I would hope that the trade doesn't workout that well for Edmonton as it did for Quebec.

He wouldn't/shouldn't.

However, if I'm Edmonton and get that pick, as good as Matthews might be, I'd trade it. Move down in draft, get Chychrun and a good NHL ready dman, and maybe more. So you add 2 top 4(maybe top 2) dmen from this 1 deal, and sign a FA also. Young forward core + revamped young D, and that sets up Oilers in better position. Better D means more scoring chances for offense obviously.

Or if it's even possible, deal one of their forwards not named McDavid, get lottery pick, draft a dman. So they'd have Matthews,McDavid, lottery dman(5 projected in lottery right now)

Re: NHL 2015/16 Regular Season

How come the Canadian based teams are just so poor? I'm about to watch some replays of the latest games and in the Western Conference the bottom 4 teams are Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Edmonton. How? It's not much better in the Eastern Conference. I just don't understand it. Hockey is pretty much their game!! What gives???

Crikey, I go for Arizona and even they are a better performing side.

It is Canada's game, and those are Canadian-based teams, but they are not made up entirely of Canadians. It's just a coincidence ha.

Edmonton isn't a surprise, Calgary was due for a drop off, Vancouver has been getting worse every year, and Winnipeg was probably above their expects last year. While teams like Dallas are on the rise.

In the East, Toronto sucks, Montreal has simply imploded, and Ottawa probably exceeded expects last year too.

I do wonder if there is some overarching reason why they're all down, perhaps the pressure to WIN WIN WIN instead of build a long term contended could be it. Dunno.
