One positive I'm taking out of the game is that Bracco/Woll(2 Leaf prospects) were the stars for USA. Bracco with put away goal, Woll stopping 25/26 shots.

The QF are looking like it'll probably be:
Sweden vs Slovakia
Canada vs Denmark

USA vs Czech
Russia vs Switzerland

USA-Russia and Canada-Sweden are the 2 semi finals matchups.

Just a minor note that I never realized, but today marks 30 years since the "Punch-up in Piestany"

Which of course also lead to one of the more famous Don Cherry moments

As for the present, it's for the gold medal! (and Sweden-Russia for bronze)

What a game! Glad I decided to watch that.

Canada blows 2 2-goal leads and doesn't score in the shootout. Ouch.

What a ****ing game.

Too bad it had to be decided by a shootout, but wow, that one was a classic.

Re: 2016-2017 World Juniors

Congrats to Team USA for never giving up and erasing a two-goal deficit not once but twice.
Both teams played extremely well and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, last night's game solidified my view that the World Jrs are able to produce far more entertaining games than the NHL could ever hope to.
A 2-goal lead in the NHL means the game is over. Done. Turn the station.

Last night's game was back and forth, back and forth, great saves, chances and goals.
And wouldn't you know it, not one fight was needed to make the game safer or more entertaining. Go figure.

Again, congrats to Team USA. They deserved it and they definitely looked far more poised in the shootout than Canada. The Canadian shooters looked petrified.
