Re: World Cup 2018

Neither Kane or Alli are particularly speedy but that hasn't impeded their ability to receive long range passes behind the defence the past two-three seasons. Whether it's Alderweireld or Shelvey who hits those passes is irrelevant.

EDIT: After actually checking who's in that squad, I guess they're gambling on Dier hitting those passes.

I was actually being sarcastic haha, doesn’t come off well in text at times obviously. Between Lingard, Sterling, Vardy, Rashford, Welbeck they have so much pace to exploit those kind of passes. Also Kane and Alli as you mentioned, due to their excellent positioning.

Anyway, I know Dier can pick a good pass, but he’s still not as good of a passer as Shelvey.

Strong squad.

Gutted for Payet who would have made it if not for that injury yesterday. No Martial, Coman (ankle injury), Lacazette, Laporte, and Rabiot.

Would have liked to see Zouma in there over Rami but that’s my Chelsea bias coming into play.

Re: World Cup 2018

There is like an 80% chance they will regret taking Thauvin over Martial.

I know Thauvin has had a fantastic season, but he is absolutely notorious for being the biggest flat track bully around. Not in any way a big game player, which Martial is.

Now that I've said that he will probably have a great tournament, but even then it would still be an outlier for him.

Re: World Cup 2018

On a semi-funny note.

We were debating England leaving out Shelvey and wilshire while France leaves home an 11 that would probably fare halfway decent in Russia.

Embarrassment of riches

I wanted Zouma in there as well but Stoke had the worst defense in the EPL I think... not saying that was his fault but just doesn't look good. Not surprised he was left out.

Now Martial is a different story.

Re: World Cup 2018

Argentina cuts Icardi from their final roster. It's really amazing that they continue to ignore him when the strikers they do bring underperform in pretty much every tournament they play.

He has 100 league goals in 159 matches for Inter, and has a grand total of 4 Argentina caps!

I mean, if they're still all butthurt over the Maxi Lopez affair situation at this point, it's absurd.
