As much as I dislike Jose, I'm thankful to have him in the Premier League. We need our villains to root against. I never dreamed that I'd ever miss Diego Costa, but here we are. Gotta have the heels!

Conversely, I always knew I'd miss Costa and it feels awful.

Mourinho is absolutely throwing his youth squad under the bus and the United fans are starting to turn on him. I don’t blame them! Just an awful look and becoming way too commonplace for him.

Eh, their youth academy has sucked for quite some time now and they need some new signings/getting their players to return from the WC hiatus. Not the most confidence inspiring quotes but their honest.

It’s all setting up nicely for his trademark 3rd year dismissal though.

PL academies in general aren't producing world class players, Pep has made kind of a big deal about this since he got here and a lot of the media and some fans as well just don't really want to hear it.

Of course, the measure of a good academy isn't necessarily how many world class players it produces. Good academies help set up kids for a future in football somewhere, it doesn't have to be at the top level.

At the same time, how often in recent years have United/Liverpool/Arsenal academies produced a genuine baller?

That's just Mourinho being in his constant state of grievance. He doesn't know how to just make positive statement about fitness or whatever and move it along. I find it amusing that such a meaningless result that no one cares about gets him so defensive. I don't think I've ever seen a guy so hell bent on being sour at all times. Every time you saw his face in the US he was pouting, lol

Yeah he’s in midseason form already.

TBH, I think he’s nervous as hell about gettin off to a good start. Read the other day that they’re missing 17 first-team players and some of ‘em are dropping like flies with injury.

Matic has surgery once he got to NJ
Valencia was sent home with a hammy
Smalling got hurt the other day
Bailly is playing through some injury
Shaw got hurt/stays hurt/is fat

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the big clubs start the season with the shortened window/WC layoffs. Someone Arsenal could really hit the ground running.

To be fair, United have almost zero financial restraints and they still aren’t buying him players. I don’t think he’s necessarily getting worked up over the result of a specific game, he’s using said game to make a big deal so his club actually buys players.
