Villa signed a bunch of defenders

Tyrone Mings, Matt Targett, Ezri Konsa, Marvelous Nakamba, Tom Heaton, Bjorn Engels, Kortney House
vs
Alfie Mawson, Joe Bryan, Maxime Le Marchand, Calum Chambers, Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Obviously the quality of the defenders will tell over time, but I think Villa did more to shore up their defense than Fulham did.

Fairly indifferent.

I didn't begin last season with an urge to complain about Fulham and gleefully watch them drop. That feeling grew after being consistently surprised at how praised they were for their transfers (people seemed to only be impressed by the names) instead of surprised at how they seemingly left behind what brought them to the dance.

As for Villa, there has been a ton of talk about if they'll be repeating the mistake of Fulham. It's being talked about, so it bothers me less than it being ignored.

Also, Fulham had the 5th most expensive season ticket last year. Just reading about how much they were charging for tickets also very much turned me off of them (more to do with their stature and newly promoted status).

I just always thought it was weird that Kreb was so bitter towards them last year, lol. Like, it's Fulham.

I won't lie, part of it was rooted in slight contrarianism.

Also, Villa's second-biggest signing (I think that's right) was Mings who had been on loan with them—so it wasn't a new player, just a permanent move.
