There are a LOT of hung-over people around town today after yesterday's win over Wigan put Burnley back into the English Premier League.

I started watching them back in 1967 when it was called 'Division One' and they had been part of the top division of English Soccer (Yes, that's what us British old farts called it in the 60s when England won the World Cup, before these new kids started saying 'footie' instead!) for a long time at that point.

They were relegated around 1971, if I recall right (not looking this stuff up, I really am that old) and bounced back up a year later, before plumetting for over 30 years to lower leagues.

They popped back up for a season a few years ago, but we're hoping that they're back to stay this time. It was the finances, and selling good players to pay bills, that killed their last success. Maybe the board learned from that?

I'm betting season ticket prices are going up again...

I remember last time they were up, they beat Man U 1-0 in their first home game.

Well done to the Clarets!

I've actually met former Burnley defender Clarke Carlisle a couple of times during his time at Northampton Town (my hometown). Very intelligent and funny guy!

This year I've decided to follow an EPL team until Fleetwood Town makes it to the EPL (I wish). It was between Burnley and Spurs but Burnley was the first team I picked when I played FIFA 09 for the first time.
