Monster Energy Supercross the Videogame impressions

First impression was pleasantly surprised that this game has HDR support.

Gameplay is MXGP in Supercross form which I expected and I don’t mean anything negative by that. Milestone has had motocross gameplay pretty dialed in for awhile imo. I’m more interested to see how the AI and difficulty are in this one but i haven’t played enough yet to have a valid opinion yet.

Graphics are good but it kinda has a bit of a washed out look like MXGP3 has. HDR looks good though.

Just started a career mode so I’ll be back with more impressions later.

Re: Monster Energy Supercross the Videogame impressions

Got up early this morning and ran 3 single races. First 3 tracks.
Custom rider
Custom stock bike - Husqvarna
One shot races
Medium length and medium difficulty ( medium length was around und 11 laps)
Normal physics
Rewinds off
I finished 15th, 12th , and 3rd
One mistake you pay the price

Going to start career mode when I get home from work.
All I can say so far is I like it.
I’ll go much more fun n depth once I had more time with the game.

Re: Monster Energy Supercross the Videogame impressions

Cautiously optimistic.

A bit disappointed that Milestone appears to have cut and paste the MXGP 3 physics engine. That game had a terrible bike friction and grip model, just like Milestone's Ride series for road bikes. At higher skill levels, you had no idea when traction was about to break. There was no transition point on the friction curve. It was just, "Boom, you're down." Lousy use of controller vibration to indicate a loss of grip.

So I must disagree a bit with CujoMatty's belief that Milestone has dialed in motocross physics. Hell, the physics of Supercross Circuit on the PlayStation in the late 1990s were just as good as Milestone's model. We need progress.

Thanks for the impressions, boys. Keep them coming!

Re: Monster Energy Supercross the Videogame impressions

After several more races I can say with confidence that these bikes feel and handle differently than the bikes in MXGP 3.

Re: Monster Energy Supercross the Videogame impressions

Track really doesn't form any good corner ruts to stick it into, have only noticed one on the 250s at Toronto with a really wet track. MXGP 3 you could hit one and tell it helped you go faster, not really feeling it yet with this.

The AI is fast at some tracks, and really slow at others, it all depends on if their 250 can get the rhythm section or not.

Off tracks are a little better than MXGP 3 because you get a countdown in most situations unless you really shoot off the track.

The starts are a mess, and with riders instantly getting put back up it adds this awkward ghost issue to right at the starts.

But, I love it, its fun, and I have a game that has 22 riders in it FINALLY been waiting for that since N64 days.

In what way? Better grip model? Better indication of loss of traction? Are you actually penalized, through loss of speed or crashing, for screwing up the timing of riding the whoops?

Other specifics, please?

Re: Monster Energy Supercross the Videogame impressions

I like the feel of blitzing the whoop section and slamming into the corner and pegging the throttle out of the corner.

I'm happy.
