Season 4 Week 8

Week 8 is up. Next advance is Thursday at 10:00pm EST. We'll always advance on this date or as soon as all games have been played. Please keep in mind that we advance as soon as all games have been played regardless of any recruiting time thats remaining. If you have a bye week I suggest you get your recruiting done so that we don't advance without you.

Please note that the advance time has changes from 6:00pm EST to 10:00pm EST.

Re: Season 4 Week 8

San Jose State absolutely ran over Hawaii this week at home and this game was ugly for the visitors. When asked about the final score San Jose State's head coach had this to say "what should my guys do just run out of bounds...the only thing we could've done is maybe taken a knee after half time because Hawaii just couldn't stop anything"

This game was over before the 1st half.

The story is pretty clear in Bowling Green, KY this season- the offense is powerful but the defense is weak. Western Kentucky prevailed over USF 52-42, led by freshman QB Kevin Williams and junior WR Keith Hairston. Williams was 14/17 for 316 yards, 4 TD's and 1 INT. Hairston was on the receiving end of over 50% of those completions, catching 8 passes for 197 yards and 3 TDs. Hairston was also able to get loose via the Hilltopper option attack, rushing 3 times for 101 yards and a fourth touchdown. Hairston came into this week as a surprise Heisman contender, surging to second in the current rankings behind SJSU's Brad Faulk, and Hairston's 4 TDs and near 300 yards of total offense should impress the voters this week. He is 2nd in the country in receiving yards, 1st in touchdowns, has the longest reception in the country this year (84 yards), and has only one drop.

Re: Season 4 Week 8

UMass Head Coach Joe Hydro had spent the last two days following his gut wrenching loss to Kent State completely overhauling his Offensive playbook. It defenitly paid off this week as The Minutemen take apart MAC opponent Ball State 52-13 today. Sophomore QB Donald Bell destroyed the D, going 8/9 for 96 yards and a TD through the air and running for 183 yards and 3 more scores. Senior All American Randall Jette took 2 kickoffs back for touchdowns in the 3rd quarter finishing the day with 251 kickoff return yards. Coach Hydro was extremely proud of his defense, especially the 2nd unit and Dimeback Corey Wall. He grabbed an interception and forced a fumble in the 4th quarter as the 2nd unit shut Ball State out to close the game. The Minutemen get next week off as they prepare for Akron to come to Gilette Stadium for another important MAC showdown.
