I could be totally wrong, but Ive noticed the CPU is not nearly as good in pre-season tournaments than they are in regular season CM. I was beating the brakes off the cpu in pre-season tournaments...

Thank you for this, but it doesnt answer how a better CB actually defends compared to how a lower rated CB actually defends, your answer was more tactics based, and I wouldnt play a CB as a striker.
