          Re: Conference Re-Alignment Dynasty

I will be running in the new Pac 12 in the Northern Division with the Cal Golden Bears. I want to turn Cal into a national powerhouse and a Pac 12 champion. Cal is located in Berkley, California. Cal has came upon some rough times, not winning a pac 10(12 now) championship for a few years. For those interested, yes I will still be playing my North Texas Dynasty. This time around the Golden Bears will be coached by first time college head coach Kalib McBride, who likes to run a 3-4 defense and a pro style offense.

                  Preseason Write Up
The Cal Golden Bears are looking to improve with new Head Coach Kalib McBride at the helms. McBride is sticking with Cal's Pro Style Offensive attack and keeping the defense similar with a 3-4. McBride has named Senior Kevin Riley as starting QB. The team captain, and star middle linebacker Mike Mohamed will look to lead the strong Cal defense. Look for running back Shane Vereen to have a breakout year running the ball. Last year Vereen came in as a relief back to Jahvid Best. Now, Its Vereen's turn to run wild in the new Pac 12.

The Cal Golden Bears will now play in the Pac 12 North Conference. Many think this is the Pac 12's lesser conference with only two ranked teams. Coach McBride says this of the conference, "I've heard all the talk, the south division only has two ranked teams as well. Overall, I think the North is better top to bottom with talent." And about that talent McBride speaks of, he predicts a solid year for Cal. "I think we can contend, and with a few key wins we could be right in the chase for the Pac12 North Title."

ESPN has predicted the North Conference to finish out like this:
                  #4 Oregon
                  #19 Oregon State
                  Cal
                  Stanford
                  Washington
                  Washington State.

Coach McBride's team hits the field this week against Eastern Michigan in their season opener. Fans are encouraged to dress in all white as the team is wearing their "white out" jerseys. ESPN Gurus Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstriet have picked the Golden Bears to win this game.

Cal starts the season off ranked 32nd in the preseason polls. Coach McBride had this to say when asked how he felt about Ohio State being ranked #2, "Honestly, I can't stand Ohio State. I wanted to schedule them this year to knock them off, our AD didn't feel the same way." "I think they are overranked every single year only to win a weak Big Ten and lose in a big bowl game. Terrelle Pryor and the hoodrats can take all their improper benefits and lose in another BCS game for all I care," McBride later went on to say.

The rest of the top 25 has shaped out like this:
                  Alabama
                  Ohio State
                  Texas
                  Oregon

                          Blanked!

Most people were worried when Cal only scored 6 points at the end of the first quarter. Shane Vereen stopped the worrying after a 22 touchdown run in which he broke three tackles to make. Vereen carried the ball 28 times in Coach McBride's run oriented offense. It could have been because starting quarterback Kevin Riley strained his pectoral muscle in the 2nd quarter bringing in redshirt freshman quarterback Allan Bridgford. Riley is expected to start next week against the Kansas State Wildcats.

The defense led by star Middle Linebacker Mike Mohamed shut down the weak Eastern Michigan offense not allowing them to run for more than 100 yards. Cal doubled Eastern in time of possession, total offense, and rushing yards. Freshman quarterback Allan Bridgford stepped up big right before the half throwing a touchdown strike to fellow freshman wide receiver Keenan Allen. Expect Allen to be a crucial part of the passing game this year, in this game he proved he was a deep threat for the Bears.

"It was a nice win to get some momentum. Now the focus is on K-State," said McBride. Vereen was named player of the game finishing with over 150 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Vereen also had 2 receptions and 25 yards. The Golden Bears will travel to Kansas State next week to play the Wildcats.
