Franchise trading.
So in franchise mode a whole lot of ridiculous trades are going on, and I'd like to put an end to it by turning the trade option off until the last few weeks before the deadline. Where is on/off option located, and also where can I turn off the Force Trade option? I've searched each category in Franchise and cannot find a thing.Tags: None -

I was wondering if this issue still existed. Guess this answers my question, sadly. My best advice would be to control every team although it's a LOT of work. -
Re: Franchise trading.
Guess I'll just have to live with seeing Mike Trout getting traded for Chipper Jones and things like that because controlling all 30 seems so ridiculous compared to a simple on/off feature.Comment

Re: Franchise trading.
I'm surprised they still have trades like this. I know the logic was supposed to be fixed this year. I know it will never be perfect but I thought the big thing for this years logic is that top prospects will be treated like top prospects and not traded as much.Comment

Re: Franchise trading.
Don't get me wrong, it does seem a bit better this year, but it still is a ways off. It will never be perfect, but that is why people want a "trade slider" or have restrictions (e.g., CPU cannot trade A prospects, CPU cannot trade anyone rated an 80 or higher, etc.).Angels= 2025 World Series Champions!!Comment

Yea, I quit my franchise when Eric Hosmer was traded to the Padres for Cameron Mayben and Tim Stauffer LOL,

Re: Franchise trading.
Hosmer was traded on mine as well for Melky Cabrera, and Jason Kipnis for Bruch Chen. Giants traded Brandon Belt for Ichiro and the Royals also traded Alex Gordon for Brett Gardner. Not only is my franchise having horrible trades that make no sense, but the trades are basically happening 2-3 times a week right now and that just seems like way to much activity and to many players changing names nowhere the deadline. Definitely makes me want to stop playing franchise all together, which is my favorite aspect.Comment

Re: Franchise trading.
I didn't feel like going through all previous trades to figure out how, but this is the Yankees lineup in 2014 (none were obtained as free agents, they were all trades):
1. Starlin Castro, SS
2. Josh Hamilton, LF
3. Robinson Cano, 2B
4. Justin Upton, RF
5. Mark Texeira, 1B
6. Alex Rodriguez, DH
7. Brian McCann, C
8. Ryan Zimmerman, 3B
9. Adam Jones, CF
And their rotation:
1. CC Sabathia
2. Michael Pineda
3. Madison Bumgarner
4. Stephen Strasburg
5. CJ Wilson
I know none of these we FA, because I never had a chance to sign them. So, my question is, how is this even possible? If a team, in real life, could build that team, they'd win 140 games. Something is definitely off.Click Here to see my NFL Head Coach farewell career (retiring from the game).Comment

Re: Franchise trading.
Currently looking through the list and here's more ridiculousness in terms of trades. I'm in Franchise mode year 2013.
Ryan Zimmerman was traded to the Braves for Brian McCann after the Chipper trade.
Evan Longoria and BJ Upton were traded to the Blue Jays for Brett Lawrie and Sergio Santos.
Matt Cain and Aubrey Huff were traded to Colorado for Carlos Gonzalez after the Melky trade.
I mean, really? Its just completely ridiculous and that's only a few of the trades that I ran into.Comment

That right there would be a bigger problem for me. This might be the first year the I use 30 team control because I DO NOT want to see this stuff happen.Moderator

Re: Franchise trading.
Somebody brought up having 2 profiles, one for the 29 teams you don't want to use, and one for the team you want to use. Anyone have like a step by step process on how to do this?
Trades are way to out of control after I went through the rest of the list and 1 full year into a franchise no team is even recognizable except mine, which I find a huge problem with.Comment

Re: Franchise trading.
Yeah I saw it after I decided to start a new franchise with the force trade option as well. So, the choices are no trades at all, or an overhaul of trades that lead to unrecognizable teams it seems. No middle ground.Comment

Re: Franchise trading.
For example, that Ryan Zimmerman for McCann makes complete sense: they just traded away Chipper so they needed a new 3B. Zimmerman is a great choice and I assume they figured out something else at catcher. To me, most of these trades make complete sense if you don't think in real life terms.
Sure the trade logic still needs work but you just will never ever get trade logic like real life because it is LOGICAL. Logic eliminates all emotions, desires, beliefs etc. RATIONAL choices take this into count. This is actually a big issue within designing AI, we can only make systems that use logic not rationalism like true humans use.Comment

Re: Franchise trading.
Most of the trades are justifiable, but only because they made wonky moves to begin with.
Another example is the Reds traded Chapman to Baltimore for Weiters, and 2 weeks later Baltimore traded Chapman to Seattle for Montero. It just seems to go out of its way to make way to many trades(2-3 a week at least).
I get what your saying though as far as eliminating franchise guys and just seeing their ratings and wanting to pursuing them and not knowing Chipper is Chipper and that Mike Trout is a highly touted prospect who wouldn't just be traded on the spot like that in real life, but as a guy with high potential and intangibles.Comment
