But if you turn hard cap off doesn't the CPU start signing guys for insane numbers?

No youre thinking of the salary cap. Teams would still have to abide by salary cap rules and exceptions.

The problem is the NBA doesnt have a hard cap the way 2k defines it. I recommend turning the hard cap off. The Wolves would absolutely be able to sign Jimmy B no matter what holds exist (IRL just a matter of what the owner is willing to spend)

Definitely, but even if there were a 'hard cap' it would be silly to be less than the luxury tax line.

I'm more concerned about the 'double cap hold' thing, where a player's cap hold is additive with his contract offer. Imagine this same thing, but I was under the cap (say, $60mil not counting my cap hold for Butler) and trying to sign a free agent in addition to a guy like Butler. I would have to:

• Sign Butler, then the UFA (assuming the UFA doesn't sign elsewhere while I hold off)
• Sign the UFA, then Butler (assuming Butler does not sign elsewhere while I hold off)
• Ignore the UFA, and leave myself with plenty of cap space to use on 2nd tier players after the marquee guys sign

I'll absolutely be turning off the hard cap in future saves, but still want to make sure the cap holds are working properly.

In progress, but much harder to track down and fix than the ones that made it into today's patch. But the items from this thread are being investigated by Tim...

Good to hear. I feel the latter especially is essential to get corrected, because otherwise it totally changes the complexion of the game mode (RFA not working for the group of players it was essentially designed for)

Thanks for the updates dave.

Can somebody here who has good knowledge about the ML bugs give a run down of how things are after the recent patch? What bugs still exist? Trying to decide if they're things i'm willing to put up with, if so i'll dive into my first ML.

So is the issue of the CPU renouncing rights (even with everything set to manual in a 30 team controlled MyLeague), as well as other CPU overriding decisions (such as declining to extend QO's) still being looked into?

Dave, I'm posting this here from another thread as I have not seen this issue before. This guy is on PS4 and this is with patch 3 installed, but he seems to say it was happening even before the patch:

I was doing a test simulation with the Knicks in MyLeague and at the end of the season it said that Kristaps played in 115 games and started in 82 of them. This was the case for alot of players in the MyLeague not just KP.

Also, when i simulated to the next season (2018-19) it said that Kristaps was on Portland, and that Willy Hernangomez was on Utah when they clearly werent. and the stats were also not the same as they were in the season that i literally just simulated.

I did a couple more Test simulations and this is happening a lot.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Looking into this (cap hold and contract offer both being counted), as well. Tim says he specifically made sure that exact thing was working and says the code looks right, so we'll have to try to dig deeper and reproduce it internally.

Also looking into why the hard cap would be lower than the luxury tax threshold (and whether or not it's just a display issue or not).

Will also try to determine if we want to raise our hard cap threshold.

Davez, one more thing to add... It looks like CPU controlled teams don't assign players to the G-League or sign players 2-Way contracts after the 17/18 season.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't think there's a way to sign newly drafted players to 2-way deals? In real life, I think the majority of 2-way contracts will be 2nd Rounders going forward and as far as I know, the only way to do that in the game is not sign them in the rookie signing stage, then sign them at the beginning of the new season instead.

If possible, could you guys add where a player of a late 1st or 2nd Round Draft pick that meets a certain OVR or Potential or some criteria could automatically be signed to a 2-Way deal that way the CPU teams keep the players that they draft?

Dave why is there a hard cap just curious? As Ive described before in my CBA corrections blogs last year and the year before, a "hard cap" as used in 2k, does not exist in the CBA.

The hard cap that exists only comes into effect when a team uses an exception that they would not be able to use if they were over the luxury tax apron.

Example: If a team who is over the cap but under the luxury tax uses their non-taxpayer MLE, they are "hard capped" and not able to exceed the tax apron. This also happens when a team acquires a player via sign and trade, as taxpayers are not aloud to use S&T.

Off topic but on the note of Mid Level exceptions, they are cap holds as well. Teams must renounce them to get under the cap. Teams that use cap space only end up having the Room Exception and do not have MLE's (nontaxpayer or taxpayer). They still have the Bi-Annual exception, as every team has this unless they are in the tax or used it the prior year.

So I just got the game, just messed around, added two expansion teams (with an expansion draft) and the teams won 51 and 46 games.

This simulation engine is so ****ed.....

Have you even taken a look at their rosters ? This likely has little to do with the Sim Engine and more with the Expansion Teams mortgaging their future by spending big during the first Free Agency (which is of course and issue as well)

It also has nothing to do with the topic at hand, so i'd recommend opening a seperate topic for this.

I've always thought the sim engine is decent. Need more information about the expansion teams to figure that out...

Haha it's season 1 and it's two expansion teams, both had better records than the Celtics.

Best players are I believe JJ redick and Kenneth faried.
