Re: Fire & Ice - A NBA 2K18 New Orleans Pelicans Story

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH FOR - MID MARCH EDITiON

With a little less than a month left in the season, let's take a look at some of the goings on around the league.

1) CAN ANYONE CHALLENGE GOLDEN STATE?

The Warriors are currently on a 10 game winning streak and have won 15 of their last 17 games. They have been atop the Power Rankings for 15 straight weeks and outscoring their opponents by 11.4 PPG. They only have a two-game lead over Minnesota in the West, so a lot can happen, however with Steph, KD, Klay and Draymond rolling, this team is going to be tough to take out in a 7 game series.

2) STACKED WESTERN CONFERENCE

The East-leading Washington Wizards the only team in the East with over 40 wins in the East with a record of 41-29. The sixth team in the West (New Orleans) has a record of 44-26 and the 7th (Portland) and 8th (San Antonio) seeds are 40-29 and 40-30. The Warriors are the clear favorites to make it to the Finals however I fully expect every series to be a bloodbath.

3) THE BOSTON CELTICS

Boston has arguably been the most disappointing team in the league this season. Many thought that with their big moves, bring in Kyrie and Hayward in the offseason that they would be favorites to make it to the Finals. That just hasn't been the case due to a combination of bad luck injuries and having to depend on rookies. They currently have a record of 32-37, however, they're still 7th in the East and should easily be in the playoffs thanks to the East being so terrible. Obviously, this team still has the talent to make a splash come playoff time, but nothing that we've seen from thus far has shown that they will be able to do that.

4) SCORING CHAMPION IS A TWO MAN RACE BETWEEN DAMIAN LILLARD AND JAMES HARDEN

Lillard has been setting the league on fire, average just over 30 points a game. At this point in the season, James Harden is the only player who is close at 29.8 PPG. Either way, one of these two players should give their respective franchises their first scoring champ, who will it be?

5) THE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR IS BEN SIMMONS' TO LOSE

Ben Simmons has been having a monster season for a rookie as the 76ers Point-Forward, averaging 17.8 PPG, 9.1 RPG and 5 APG. And the thing makes Ben and his teammate Fultz stand out over the other rookies is that they're doing it as rookies with their teams in the Playoff race. This award likely already has Ben's named etched on it, something really major would have to happen in order for him to lose it at this point.
