Tanking Sales Numbers

Looks like the consumers are finally speaking with their wallets.

Pasta Padre has the July NPD numbers and is reporting that first month sales for BOTH the 360 and the PS3 are down from last year, even though the user base has increased for both systems.

It may be too soon to call NCAA 10 a flop, but given that overall sales have been on the decline for 4 straight years now, I think it's pretty safe to say we may be looking at some big changes and possibly even a reboot in this series' near future.

Re: Tanking Sales Numbers

the game is good this year, so i can care less if other people dont want to buy it. Since when did people become so obsessed with how much something sells if it doesnt involve them? People look to see how much money movies make their first week or how much an album sales opening week, who really cares? Does it have any impact on your life whatsoever.

Not to mention, aren't sales for just about everything down these days? People are cutting back so perhaps some of those kids that used to be able to get their parents to shell out $60 for a video game are no longer able to get their parents to be willing to spend that kind of money.

I have no problem with this game, but hopefully this will force them to really step up the product to get sales....

Hard to believe that someone would not have one single problem with this game given the vast amount of flaws. Anyway let's hope what you say is the case. I think a lot of people are fed up with the constant new gimmicks and the lack of true, revolutionary innovation with the game as a whole. This series is as stale as a half can of Coke after it's been sittin for 2 days.

Lack of sales have more to do with a lack of marketing as opposed to a lack of production. How many NCAA commercials aired this year? Madden got all that marketing money. Does the game have flaws? Of course. But it's far from the unplayable mess people make it out to be.

Re: Tanking Sales Numbers

It's not unplayable but they have had the same nagging problems that never seem to get fixed. I think this is their best effort on next gen by far and I actually like the game but I'm done with it when Madden comes out. It's not so good that I don't find myself looking for something better (e.g. Madden 10). The little problems like balls morphing through guys, buggy controls like your guy not jumping to catch or defend a pass when you press the "catch" button, super human catch up speed from defenders when defending a pass, and so on. I like alot of gamers are getting tired of the same old problems every year and the lack of innovation overall. They can have the greatest dynasty mode in the world but the gameplay wears thin after a week or two what's the point? That's kinda where I'm at...looking for something better and hoping Madden 10 is it.

They made decent game this year but I don't find myself itching to play it. Also, so much of sales is word of mouth. I have like 6 freinds with PS3's and I wouldn't recommend they buy this game. And they're football nuts like I am. I wouldn't stick my neck out for this game.

Lack of marketing?? What do you call the weekly blogs, the demo, the website, the trivia game?

This game is a flop, and the quality of product is to blame for the low sales numbers... Economics have some effect, but come on. People will buy video games no matter what. Its $60 for something that will last a year.
