Position Changes Destroy Ratings

Apologies if this has been addressed before, but I'm finally fed up with this. I understand the drastic change in awareness if you switch positions drastically, like moving a DB to WR that has never played the position before. However, movements like LT to RT, T to G, DE to DT, or ROLB to MLB are not drastic changes. In fact, they're changes that happen on almost any team about every season. A drop of 5-10 points is sufficient instead of completely decimating their awareness rating. If EA is going to make that much of a change, they should at least allow it to increase rapidly as well when the player has been at the new position for a while. Something that's even crazier is the ATH recruits. If you put them at a position that is not their #1 position, you'll notice a hard hit to awareness. I thought the point of them being an athlete is that they could fit pretty well at 2 or more positions and were kind of a jack of all traits???

Another thing I've noticed is the drop in ratings like strength when you move D-linemen. A guy doesn't automatically get weaker because he moves from DE to DT. Some serious attention needs to be directed toward this issue. It's really a deal-breaker for me since I like recruiting speed on defense, moving a lot of SS to LB, LB to DE, and DE to DT.

You can easily change the AWR rating back by editing your players. I realize your point is that EA doesn't need to penalize players as much as they do, but you do have a way to rectify the situation yourself.

*makes mental note to write down all AWR ratings for my players before changing positions.

That's not exactly an option for all members in an online dynasty

The hit shouldn't be in-game to begin with. In HIGH SCHOOL we were required to learn all complementary positions to your own (DB's, LB's, O&D Lineman, WR/TE), and I'm sure college coaches do the same. If we had an off-season like the old PS2 with a spring game, we could simulate working a player into a new position to reduce any hit to awareness that players are given.

Bu-bu-but I thought AWR didn't do anything except effect AI QB decision-making? That's what OS told me last time this issue came up.

AWR is the most important rating when it comes to CPU controlled players regardless of what you have heard before.

Re: Position Changes Destroy Ratings

I havent done this yet, but i was thinking about making ratings adjustments post switching positions.
Obviously awareness will take a bit of a hit if a move a corner to Safety or LB to DE, but not drop to 45 from 80. But what would be a fair adjustment?
Lets say i move an 82 rated corner with 75 awareness to safety. Would adjusting his awareness to 70 be fair? I would think at positions that similar a 5 point hit would be fair.

Now as far as moving DE to DT and their strength dropping, thats just dumb. You dont get weaker. If anything you might put on some size in the off season and get a little stronger, so i would make sure and edit strength up to what it was pre position switch.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I've noticed the same thing. I recruited a 6'7'' linebacker with the intention of converting him to a tight end. He went from a 72 overall linebacker with about 70 awareness to a 40 overall tight end with 0 awareness. It certainly is a bigger transition than from end to tackle, but to have 0 awareness is ridiculous.
