MLB The Show 19 First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Since we've had our first report of someone having the game early, we'll open this thread. This is NOT the place for asking questions.

For now, only people who can verify that they have the game early may post.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Disclaimer- haven't bought or played for more than 5 minutes any version since '16

Only played a bit because loading and now back at work. Loading game is Red Sox vs Dodgers of course. First impressions are positive and can feel the difference from '16 immediately. Put it on legend and turned the pitch speed full feels about the same speed as I'm used to so guessing they just bumped the default speed but the top range is unchanged. Played a couple innings before it loaded the rest. Played Bagwell and Acuna in a HRD and it felt better than I remember where it used to be painfully easy to hit HRs and now it felt at least like hitting them isn't a gimme.

Oh and just to get everyone's hopes up for nothing, pretty sure I saw Guerrero Jr. in the live action intro video. Forgot to look in the rosters to confirm they haven't changed the rules on who can be in the game but there it is.

Playing the loading game and first couple things. 4K frame rate is still too choppy but luckily the “balanced” setting looks great. HDR is off by default so make sure you turn it on.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Games finally installed lol.

Intro video got me amped and yes vlad was in it but he’s not on the roster

Game menus are sharp and aesthetically pleasing.

Visual speaking the game looks great but not slot different then 18

Soooooo pumped blue jays 06 home and away uniforms are included!!!!!!!!
Loved thise unis!!!!!

I like the new stadium announcer

The new broadcast camera cuts add a lot to the realism. Between every pitch is a camera cut. The presentation has been ramped up unbelievably by far my favourite thing so far.

All the hair options are exactly the same so making vlad as a CAP is going to be tough again this year with no mini dreads. I hope they add him once he debuts.

Shoes look great but there are less

No new brands and Nike catcher gear isn’t in.

Edit player menus are reorganized

Some of the face scans look great but a lot of these “face scans/SCEA created faces” are really off. Acuna looks nothing like him. Not trying to brag here lol but the one I made last year looks far closer to him than the one SCEA put in. Max fried is horrible he doesn’t even look like his distant cousin. Jon Brunal you aren’t gonna like the Mets faces they added I don’t think lol

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Finished a full game. Wasn’t sure when I first strted playing if I was going to be disappointed because it does look almost identical to 18 but as I played I knew I was in love. The broadcast feel is there big time. Gameplay is polished incredibly. Contract extensions and real contracts are enough for me.

I’m not going to comment much on match to October for the simple fact that the mode isn’t really my cup if tea no matter how good it is if I can’t use a custom roster.i played the first game and the intro video was really cool and it jumped me to the 6th inning opening day. Told me what I could collect if I won and it was slot of fun and I can see how people will really enjoy it just like I said it’s not really for me.

For the roster guys I transferred over the roster the CRP guys are using as a base to see and all the players transferred well.

I’m just working on transferring the complete 90 man jays rosters and then all a and b prospects then see if I have more time to get even more transferred so people can have a roster for Tuesday while we wait for the CRP roster.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Minor league park distribution

Majestic-6x
Oak-4x
Franco-4x
Porch-4x
Water-3x
All American-3x
Capitol-3x
Highland-3x
Green valley-3x
Barnes-3x
Shippet-3x
Main street-3x
Statesman-2x
Wagon-2x
Blue river-2x
Riverboat-2x
Crystal falls-2x
Bayfront-2x
Iron horse-2x
Laughing-1x
Center city-1x
Red rocks-1x
Industrial-1x

This has always been something that kills rtts for me and is not any better this year. Both Toronto teams play at majestic and you're stuck playing in the same park on the road against 4 other teams. If they won't give us the option to assign the parks ourselves, the least they could do is take the few minutes to balance the distribution.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Gameplay is top notch though, have barely seen any hits back up the middle which I think was more the cause of pitchers getting hit too often vs an inability to get out of the way. Haven't had any dribblers in front of the plate yet which used to happen constantly. Liking the fielding throw meter way more than I used to.
