According to the 2K twitter account hes the cover athlete for current gen. So perhaps Zion for next gen and Kobe as a legend edition cover on both gens.

People have to remember they would have needed vanessa's permission to put Kobe on the cover and she's made it clear that the family still struggles to see media of him. So if it doesn't happen hopefully everyone leaves it alone.

Exactly. I also wouldn't feel comfortable with if they tried to make a profit off of his death.

They did add Kobe content into MyTeam. I think it took longer than most were expecting so it made me believe that 2k was able to reach some agreement with the family regarding using Kobe's likeness.
