WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 Impressions

My experience started out with a Really?! REALLY?!? even though I wasn't playing as Miz. A mix of pissed off and annoyed.

Speaking of THQ issues...first off the pissed off part is YET AGAIN XBL Silver CANNOT download ANY communinty creations even with the online pass activated which states access to community creations. I can download them no problem in EA MMA and NCAA so there's no excuse for this,complete unacceptable BS. It thinks I'm trying to play online apprently because it just tells me my profile isn't authorised to play online. Do you need PSN+ to DL them on the PS3 version? Something tells me you don't. Have to wait for a free weekend unless it's patched somehow.

Secondly the annoyed part is having to save e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. I turned off auto save but unless I actually save changes don't stick. Moving HBK to Legends for example. Should be simple,go in,move him,don't have to save,go move Edge to SD and fix whatever else. But no. First it failed because he could only be moved to Raw or SD. I realized that's because he was on a team. So I break up DX. Exit out. They're not broken up because I didn't save. Break up. Save. Move HBK,exit without saving. Back on Raw. Move to legends,save. The -do you want to save?- screen comes up every time too. Hopefully I'm missing something here but as it is it's incredibly annoying. Going through to change all the attritbutes would require saving 64 times (or however many there are).

On the brightside I Pepsi Plunge'd Luke Gallows onto a chair. We need to be able to store finishers again. The first time I tried to set it up my finisher expired before I had him and the chair in place.

I like how the kick to the gut sets up the chain grapple. Only gone through the training so far but I see what was done there.

Tried messing around backstage in RtWM. The camera is awful.

started out a rumble, number 2, cm punk.. eliminated 7 people, then got eliminated after getting rid of the other player in the match. i came back as Kane and eliminated 7 more for the win. woot woot lol..

Why is Hurricane there if we can't play as him?

I messed around with the Universe mode for a little bit and noticed that usually during the 2nd week leading up to a PPV, there are a series of #1 contender matches. I changed one of the wrestlers in the #1 Contenders match for the WWE Championship and the match turned into just a regular match. Then for the PPV 3 weeks later, the WWE Championship was not defended, because there technically wasn't a legit #1 contender.

The other thing I don't like is that you can't go back over past results. I thought I read somewhere that the game would save past results for at least 1 years worth of cards. That's not the case. But it's a 1st attempt and a pretty good one.

Not sure about the feuds but I've seen Jake "The Snake" Roberts buy a ticket and stand ringside twice already. Nothing came out of either time. I just assumed Jake got disoriented or something. Hopefully next year they give us more control and make it feel more like a complete show. I remember one of the older SVRs had the opening fireworks to kick off the event. That shouldn't have been taken out. It would be kinda cool if we had the intro and then a cut to the announcers going over the card for the night (with the matches appearing on the screen like you would see during a live broadcast).

Holy crap. Regal just completely no sold my created top rope Killswitch. Soon as he hit the mat he rolled out of the ring. Might've been the ring escape ability but that shouldn't be able to activated like that. Too bad it missed the table. Spent the rest of the match trying to set up a splash off the ladder through a table.

New idea...

Performance based with on the fly spot calling!

Is the classic kick out system still in the game?

Im hearing alot of people are having a hard time kicking out from simple non sig/finisher moves...

Same for the CPU...

Yes it is. I didn't even attempt the new one,figured it was mostly the same as LoWM.

Also after this week the tag champs aren't in the game as well as the US champ.

You should never be able to get a pin with a clothesline or stomp. It should be finishers and roll-ups only.

I really think THQ/Yukes needs to look at this game a different way. This isn't Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Matches need the eb and flow of a real wwe match. I know its hard to create a simulation of a fake sport, but I gotta think something could be done to make it more like a wrestling match and not a fighting game.
