Re: WWE Smackdown 4/10/18: Knee to Face, Face To Heel

Smackdown was lit tonight. The new GM is revealed and I'm fine with the choice as it gives her a reason to stay on TV and promote that movie. Don't understand why the Usos had to re-earn their Tag Team Title rematch in a separate match but ok. Don't understand why Naomi won the Women's Battle Royal either. What about Becky? Is she just a jobber in this company?

Loved that Charlotte promo segment. A new tag team debuts on the show in the Iconics. They showed their personality all in one promo and I was sold. And of course, that Carmella cash in. About time. Wonder if Charlotte is staying on Smackdown or this means she's going back to RAW in the Shake Up. Poor Rusev. Will never win a Title again. Why must we get tortured with another Orton/Jinder Title Match? Lastly, I loved that Shinsuke interview backstage. Loved how he said "Me no speak English" to avoid answering Rene's questions. Glad the Styles/Bryan match ended in a DQ. Save this for a PPV. Shinsuke looked ruthless as a heel so that was a nice way to end the show.

So, the Smackdown women's title goes from being a huge deal in that impressive WM match, to being near meaningless with Carmella holding it. Crazy how quickly things can change.

The Smackdown Women's title has never been a huge deal.

I’m guessing they did it because Charlotte is going to Raw next week, is going to main event Mania next year against Rousey, and they needed someone to be the sacrificial lamb to Asuka at Backlash.

If people are only going to associate the importance of a title with the person holding it then whats the point of having titles?

Honestly....Nakamura's one heel promo was greater than the past year as a babyface. Plus he's coming across as more vicious.

I like it. Brings him more in line with his New Japan character...which wasn't necessarily a heel...but someone who just wanted to kick somebody's head off.

Re: WWE Smackdown 4/10/18: Knee to Face, Face To Heel

The fantasy booker in me says to have Nakamura keep being sarcastic and say "No Speak English" for a couple weeks. Then one time they want him to answer not sarcastically and then we hear, "Ladies & Gentleman..... My Name is Paul Heyman", etc. Heyman then picks up Nakamura as his new client.

SD overall was good but as others said, I think they are going to win big in the shake up since the only NXT call ups were Billie and Peyton. Within a span of 48 hours, Nakamura went from Rockstar to Dream Match Killer. Ruined the ending of his match with Styles at Mania and ruined the Styles/Bryan match. I think if they had done the Shakeup after Backlash and allowed everyone to get their rematches(which apparently you have to earn on SD Live) I think it would have allowed them to do more on both RAW & SD this week.

Again, fantasy booking wise. Nakamura wins the title from AJ at Backlash, move Bryan to RAW but only if Roman goes to SD Live. Then have Bryan win the Rumble, and choose Nakamura who will almost be champion for a year. Then let Bryan and Nakamura tear Metlife Stadium down so much so that the Giants & Jets will have to find a new stadium to play in.
