The New York Mets had the 10th overall pick in the 1st Round of the MLB Draft. Here's a recap of what our New York Mets did this year with their selections.
*All player's names and backstories are completely fictional.*
Round: Name, Position, Age, Height, Weight, Bat/Throw, School
1st Round: Derrick Gale, Left Field, 21 Years Old, 5'11 210 LBS R/R, South Carolina University
The New York Mets were outfield friendly this draft, the real gem being first rounder Derrick Gale. Derrick comes out of college with extremely raw ability, but will look to improve greatly in upcoming years. Gale is a disciplined batter who looks to be able to hit in the middle of an MLB lineup in the 5th or 6th spot. He may move to right field depending on his arm, as he had lead the country in assists from the outfield during his last year in college. Look for the Mets to take his development slowly but expect him to become the face of the franchise in upcoming years.

2nd Round: Chad McGhee, Starting Pitcher, 20 Years Old, 6'0 206 LBS R/R, Arkansas University
Chad McGhee is known for his workhorse ability, being the ace of his college team who used just a 4-man rotation and making it into the semi-finals of the college world series, surprising everybody. Scouts were skeptic of McGhee because the lack of rest may result in some wear-and-tear with the right-hander, but the Mets were willing to take the chance. McGhee's pitches won't overpower you, but he does an extremely good job of ball placement, can paint the corners, and is a smart player on the mound. His 4 pitch repertoire features a 4seam fastball, cutter, sinker, and a change-up. All of his pitches have extremely good movement which is very surprising for a right handed pitcher.

3rd Round: Clay Osuna, 1st Base, 18 Years Old, 6'5, 198 LBS, L/R Holy Trinity High School
Clay Osuna is a big player with some big pop to him. He has hit monster home runs, using only wood bats in his high school career. He is good with the glove at first base, but has an extremely good arm. Look for the New York Mets to move him to either 3rd base or right field.

4th Round: Dave Jimenez, 2nd Base, 21 Years Old, 6'0, 205 LBS, R/R, Florida University
Dave Jimenez is a man of many talents. Although 2nd base is his primary position, Dave is also capable of playing both corners of the infield and all 3 positions of the outfield. Dave is known for being smart on the base paths and his will to go all out for his team to get a victory. Many scouts think this kid will be the steal of the 2013 draft, and will be the unsung hero for a future franchise.

5th Round: Johnny Ramirez, Center Field, 18 Years Old, 5'10, 176 LBS, S/L, Stevens Prep High School
Having one of the more interesting backstories in the draft, Johnny Ramirez is a gifted player who has relied heavily on his speed in order to hit for an impressive .425 his junior year of high school with 40 stolen bases on 42 attempts. Unfortunately, his senior year he tore his ACL and missed all of his senior year. Being one of the highest prospects entering last years draft, the Mets decided to take a chance on him as most teams and colleges alike had forgotten about him. One Mets scout has been quoted saying "The kid has rehabbed harder than most athletes his age would, you can't take away his heart and the fire he has inside of him to get back on the field. We watched him work out and he still runs a 6.5 second 60 yard dash. He may have lost a step, but have him race most of the players in the bottom half of the draft and he'll be way ahead of the pack." Ramirez is expected to sign and be developed extremely slowly. Ramirez may decline his contract and attend the University of Tampa.
