Nice job getting points on the board. Good improvement to build on. Definitely going to be worth the build!

Re: Yale Bulldogs (NCAA Football 07)

Going to be tough sledding in the early going, but looking forward to seeing how you do with Yale! Throwing Yale and Harvard in a dynasty is always something I've wanted to do, so fun to see how you do up in New Haven. Enjoyed your WVU dynasty a while back (even when rooting against them, haha), so looking forward to this one.

Thanks! We’ve got a lot to work on! We better beat Harvard because the rest of our games aren't looking good, haha!

Our offensive line is really bad. So we can’t run the ball well in the first place, and we are surrendering a lot of sack yardage. Plus my quarterback is immobile so he’s a sitting duck behind this porous offensive line. I don’t have a lot of ideas to improve things, unfortunately.

My running backs are actually solid, but it doesn’t matter who you have back there if there isn’t much blocking. We need to improve the offensive line badly.

Yep! We’ll see if I can stick with the recruiting house rules. My initial testing indicated they may be a little too hard to really sign anyone initially (since there aren’t a lot of guys with A awareness ratings in the first place), but I’ll figure that out better later on! I’m not recruiting anyone in-season because I can’t recruit 3* or higher players yet as a 1* school, regardless

Let’s hope, haha! The good thing is that we really can’t get any worse. A lot of the walk-ons you get in this game are better than the guys I’m starting with after all, LOL.

Thanks, dude! Thinking back I should have moved Harvard up to an FBS Independent when I moved Yale up, as well! Oh, well! I don’t want to restart now (I’m a little further along than my reports are).

Special Teams, Fumble Cost Yale in 37-13 Defeat to Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - It started out ominously with a 73-yard touchdown run by Minnesota's Ronnie Tillman on the first play from scrimmage, but the Yale Bulldogs (0-3) actually put up a good fight today, albeit in a 37-13 losing effort to the Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-1).

Ronnie Tillman powered the Gophers with 196 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the day as he was the lifeblood of Minnesota's offensive attack.

The difference maker today were two non-offensive touchdowns by Minnesota. The first was a 14-yard fumble return for a touchdown by linebacker Brandon Moore late in the first quarter that ballooned Minnesota's lead to 14-3 at the time. Yale actually struck back and made it a 17-13 game with seven seconds left in the first half, but the Gophers' Desmond Garner returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown to make it 24-13 at halftime.

Suddenly, all the momentum and confidence Yale had built up late in the second quarter had vanished. From there, the Bulldogs were unable to mount anything offensively, and Minnesota pulled away, outscoring Yale 13-0 in the second half to take a 37-13 victory.

Still, there were positives for Yale today. For the first time all season, the Bulldogs mounted some semblance of a rushing attack, especially in the first half. Thomas Moore rushed for 50 yards on 14 carries today, a respectable 3.5 yards per carry. Senior quarterback Jeff McNamara passed for a season-high 228 yards and threw his first touchdown pass of the season, a one-yard touchdown to running back Thomas Moore with seven seconds left in the first half.

McNamara's touchdown pass was also Yale's first touchdown of the season, and Yale's 13 points bested their season-high points total by 10 points (3 against Louisville last week). The Bulldogs' offense also amassed 240 yards of total offense overall, their best effort by far this season.

"We have some positive takeaways from today," explained Yale head coach Lee Williamson. "Obviously, it's always frustrating to lose, but we gave a good effort out there today. If we cleaned up our act a little, we could've made this a closer game, so we'll work on limiting those mistakes in the future."

The Bulldogs will travel to Kalamazoo, MI to take on the Western Michigan Broncos next week.

Re: Yale Bulldogs (NCAA Football 07)

Ugh, that kick return touchdown at the end of the first half must have been demoralizing! Really solid effort in that one though, seems like a little bit of progress is being made.

Are you going to have restrictions on accepting transfers too? Just was curious, since you should get seven or eight wanting to go to Yale after this season.

Yes! I will have some restrictions there based on their awareness ratings. I’ll have to wait to see what transfers I get before determining what’s an appropriate cutoff there.

We definitely put up a better fight against Minnesota, so that was good to see. They’ve got a solid squad, too. Unfortunately, with our lack of team speed, every punt return we defend has me on edge since there’s no recovering from a bad angle or a missed tackle.

Undefeated Western Michigan Rolls Over Yale 37-6

KALAMAZOO, MI - Western Michigan (4-0) dominated today from start to finish as they blew out the Yale Bulldogs at home 37-6.

Western Michigan started a little slow, but the Broncos got going in the second quarter and led 23-0 at halftime over the winless Bulldogs (0-4). Yale finally got on the board offensively in the second half, but they couldn't muster more than a couple field goals.

Junior running back Robert Thomas ran for 190 yards and two touchdowns for Western Michigan. Sophomore quarterback Ben Powers threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns in relief of senior Blair Hill, who was unable to suit up today due to an undisclosed injury. Both touchdowns were to sophomore wide receiver Phil Franklin, who caught three passes for 104 yards and two scores, including an 87-yarder in the final minute of the first half that put the Broncos up 20-0.

For the third time in four games, Yale couldn't amass positive rushing yards as their offensive line got blown up all game. Quarterback Jake McNamara was sacked four times, and running backs Thomas Moore and Marque Kearney combined to rush for just 13 yards on 16 carries.

The only bright spot for Yale was the play of senior tight end Lance Pressley. The 6'2" product caught eight passes for 111 yards on the day, though he wasn't able to find the end zone.

Yale will travel to Nashville, TN to take on the winless Vanderbilt Commodores next week.
