Me and Mach aren't sure what is going on here, but one thing is certain brother. There is only room for one "Hulk" here. That so called phoney hulk and all of his wolf brothers will feel the wrath of the Hulkamaniacs. Whatcha gonna do Hulk....Whatcha gon do....

The biggest takeaway that I have from the games I ran with somewhat similar rulesets is that the people with information roles have to use their roles to get information. Don't get too obsessed with the cute surroundings in the game - gather role-based WW information every time you have a chance to do so.

Personally, I don't have multiple options for what I can do each action with my role. So I don't think that would be an issue if someone else was playing my character. But if others have roles with forking options, choose the information-based powers early and often.

A little more information on the characters that come out every day. At most, per character there can be only one winner, so if out of say five characters (they may be more or less), 10 people choose to interact or fight with a specific person, at best only one of those people will receive a positive reward / outcome.

Danny
07-10-2011, 08:12 PM
And again, there can be negative consequences potentially. The rewards are generally one time use type rewards and may include things like health potions, seer scans, bodyguard actions, and others.

What do people think about sharing information about the characters we interact with? I think generally we don't share info, and I think generally that probably helps the wolves more than anybody else. I know, for example, when I ran Vegas Baby that some info about what the characters did would have helped the village out a lot. But games like this tend to encourage people to play individually.

Anyway, I need a spreadsheet because half the time people talk in character, I don't know what they're talking about!

So that my Muppet friends and I, for example, can interact with one of these characters today, but not several.

My availability today probably isn't going to be great. I'm going to chuck out a random vote today. After the postgame for The Dark Knight, I'm going to go ahead and widen my range for day 1 votes. We have a lot of characters in this game that seem like mostly muscle, so I feel like we'll be okay if we lose one - and I suspect most of them will be fairly hard to kill anyway, especially early.

I think we should target those of us with multiple characters today. One would assume, and I'm sure Autumn will protest, knocking off a muppet should reveal the allegiance of the rest of them. Same is true of Miss Elizabeth, knock her off and you know The Mega Powers are good. Apply this to everyone with multiple characters. We should team up and kill their weakest link today.

OOC: I think this is a very smart idea. For those who weren't there for the Vegas game, people had to buy services like BG / seer etc. There were frequently times when a service was bought for diddily because of the lack of coordination. We already know the wolves will coordinate their attacks / interactions, seems like a good idea for us to do as well so we don't have (as q guess) 13/16 players going for the same character. That said, I won't reveal my intentions unless others agree because I doubt the rest of the folks will go along with this. Think about it though, I think Autumn is right on the money with his thoughts. /OOC

Since we need to eliminate players to find their allegiance then we should focus most of our attention on single character players at least for today since gathering information is in our best interest and having another day one tomorrow since we did not remove anyone probably is not going to help us much.

Plus even though I am a single character I know in death i will be even stronger like a Jedi because when I die, I want to be frozen. And if they have to freeze me in pieces, so be it. I will wake up stronger than ever, because I will have used that time, to figure out exactly why I died. And what moves I could have used to defend myself better now that I know what hold he had me in.

I am not against sharing information such as any seer scans that someone gets or any other information especially if they fear they are going to be taken out of the game by a lynch. That way no one goes down with information kept secret.

It could be but I believe that more then likely the multiple characters will not have a ton of health each and a few votes a day on one of them will more then likely knock them out.

I'm glad Danny clarified about allegiance. I would have been all for Gonzo getting killed if it would show my allegiance, but it wouldn't.

Frankly, based on both my own evidence, and my sense of Danny as a designer, I don't see any reason to think multiple characters will be more powerful than single ones. Each multiple character will be much easier to kill, and if I understand it right we could have multiple deaths each day, not necessarily just one lynch. So, I would think it's more necessary than ever to make sure we consolidate votes by the end of the day and avoid a blood bath.

I am all for the revealing aspect of kills. But with the possibility for multiple deaths I do think having less people with multiple characters will make it easier for us to get the info we need later.

I see, Barkeep. Yes, if we decide on a player with multiple characters we should probably spread the attacks among their characters. That would be hard to organize unless a clear lynch victim showed up early in the day. But focusing on just someone with multiple characters effectively would mean removing most of the voting history during the day, so we're in a bit of a bind here.

That's what I am thinking too.

Autumn

It would require coordination to off a multi-wolf towards the end, we'd have to make sure to spread out votes, and have a good guess as to how many attacks we needed. On the other hand, having good guys with multiple characters would make that much easier as they can spread their attack out. And knowing my abilities, I know that having multi-characters can really help the village as well.

I just thought it would be fun to have multiple characters, but now I'm seeing in the WW sense, you're probably right that they may be a difficulty in end game. I'm not going to off myself today, but I can't really fight against the idea of targeting me early.

Barkeep49
07-11-2011, 11:13 AM
One of the issues, as it was in the Marvel game, is that we only know how strong we are, with no concept about how strong other people are, so knowing how much it will take to kill someone becomes a challenge in and of itself.

dubb93
07-11-2011, 11:13 AM
Just a guess judging from what I see on my end Im guessing the muppets have 1-2 HP each. My guess would be one or two people could kill each of them. I'm really not worried about them as the game goes on.

Well, to play devil's advocate, against my own purpose, that's true but if there are only a handful of players left, that could prove impossible. If I have 5 guys left, and we're down to a small group of players there may just not be enough votes to get it done, not in one night anyway. That argues for at least whittling down players like me.

On the other hand, the more you whittle down players like me, the more weakened players we have, which if they're good is not good. And there are definite advantages to the village to me having multiple characters, so like all of WW it's not an open and shut case.

Zinto
07-11-2011, 11:32 AM
I would prefer that we get some kind of allegiance information from today's voting but that may not even be the case depending on how many votes end up on one person. Whittling away player's multiple characters is a fine idea once we have some kind of information. I am afraid we are going to move away from core werewolf ideas since this game is different but more then likely it will really hurt the village if we do so.

Tyrith
07-11-2011, 11:33 AM
I'm guessing, from a balance perspective, that the fact that the multiple characters can be divided and conquered is balanced out by a slightly increased amount of power, in general. I would figure that while there are definitely going to be stronger and weaker roles, there aren't going to be gigantic differences when everything is put together. And it wouldn't surprise me if some of pack character players have some way for the characters to mutually support each other, to mitigate some of the whittling down.

Sum of all that is to say, for today, I don't think it matters all that much what method we take. Mostly it's just a question of if we want to actually take someone out of the game today. I would think yes, especially if some of the more traditional/useful WW abilities are given via the NPC interactions instead of being inherent to roles - can't off or out our seer on day 1, etc.

Tyrith
07-11-2011, 11:34 AM
Just from my own character, it looks like this game is a pretty decent step down from the Marvel games in terms of complexity (thank goodness, those things were an absolute bear to moderate.) Hopefully this will help us keep on a more normal WW set of strategies, Zinto, just with a very interesting voting mechanic.

At first glance it seems there is a lot to wrap our heads around. Speculation will abound for the first few days while our skills are slowly revealed publicly or secretly. My life has taught me to trust no one, but in the interest of survival it would seem best to share information we gain from private encounters that could be of pertinent use.

For now I will boil this down to the basest of strategies and see what stock one of you is made of.

I didn't realize Autumn was ganging up on me but whatever. I have no special powers.

Don't let those furry little aliens stop you. Grab that little frog by the back of it's neck and twist. It makes a nice snapping sound.

But remember kid, take your pills...uh, vitamins... and you can grow up to be like Duke.

Even the smallest spark may ignite a great flame.

So you are saying that the muppets are ignited before attacking?

Here is what concerns me with Lathums claim. I have three characters and they all can do atleast one thing. And I control it. Lathum seems to have backpedaled on his ability being random. Does this ping anyone else?

Lathum
07-11-2011, 02:48 PM
really, at the risk of getting to close to quoting my PM I can cast a spell and depending on what spell it is something different happens. That is all I know. No special abilities per say, just the ability to cast spalles that I have no clue what they do.

Like I said, lynch me, I'm as normal a villager as you get so no huge loss. Just remember the people who came at me early.

It doesn't bother me too much that Harry Potter is not extremely powerful or maybe Lathum is being coy about how powerful his power is. I am going to assume not everyone has powers and that some people's powers are not as good as others.

I really dislike day ones since there is no reason to vote anyone but I am sticking to my guidelines and picking one of the people who already have a vote on them since adding another person at this point probably would not help much.

Maybe there's a problem of nomenclature here, and Harry doesn't consider his abilities to be "special".

Lathum generally pings at least a few people on day one, seems to be a part of his charm.

So there are 31 total possible "votes" in the game, just for other people's help, I tallied them up. We have 16 votes out right now, I believe. I know I have four characters who haven't voted.

Right now I have a total of 5 votes on my characters. It's going to be hard to keep vote history in a way that keeps track of characters, as well as the players.

I was thinking the same. I would love vote out someone who doesn't show, and it seems we're probably not greatly harmed in this case. We could catch a wolf, and if not, well we're going to lose someone's special abilities today.

I feel like we haven't heard from:

CrimsonFox
Schmidty
J23
DaddyTorgo

There are a few more that we've hardly heard from, but these guys I'm not sure have posted at all since game start. I know I'll get the "ah, a wolf move, targeting people who can't defend themselves," but I think I've been consistent in the past saying there's always a few people who don't show up at the beginning of the game saying they didn't know it started, and frankly that drives me crazy. I should be around, so I'll give it some time, but will be glad to target one of these guys if they don't show.

An odd and tall hare of brown wearing a waistcoat and tie bounces along, a deranged look on his face. He trips on a rock and falls forward but just continues walking upside-down on his ears. He is followed by a mouse, also wearing a purple waistcoat and floofy tie. It spins round and round in a teacup which skates along the ground, its hair a little ratty and its eyes openly half-open. At last a hat appears. A very large hat, all oversized and trapezoid-shaped. underneath it are two spinning eyes of a man. It is unknown how old he is, except he has bizarre white hair. The three shout and caterwall and make a myriad of noises then stop suddenly as in freezeframe as they see the lot of you.

“PARTY!” shouts the hare.
“PARTY?!?” shouts the man.
“PAR….zzzz” snoozes the mouse.
Immediately the man tosses his hat into the air. It does two flips and dumps out a very large table complete with tablecloth, tablesettings, cups, saucers, knives, forks, cutlery of all shapes and sizes.

“chair” snoozes the mouse.
“CHAIR?!?!?!?” shouts the man.
“CHAIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!” yells the hare into the face of Kermit.
The man taps his hat and tall wingback chair bounces out and scoots itself under the rabbit’s bottom. The Hatter cackles, “tea time! Hatter’s tea Hatter’s tea! Time for Hatter high tea time! It’s 13 o clock!”
As he taps his hat chair after chair falls out of the hat and tumble and roll into perfect placement around the immense table. The mouse teacup settles itself in the middle of the table and slows its spin, making him woozy.
“That is very very….zzzzz….very…very…..zzzzzz…..very very good…”
“MY CHAIR! MY CHAIR!” shouts the March hare and bounces from one to the other.
Then again repeats and bounces again to another, this time shouting at Mrs. Doubtfire. “MY CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIR!”
“Oh come now, “ giggles the Hatter, “Don’t you all want some tea?”

I honestly have no idea who has checked in and who has not. I am wondering if a vote on someone who has not checked would be a total bad thing since we can not lose an important role.

OOC: J23, CF, and DT have not checked in. /OOC

Ser Dwight, have you not considered that the indiscriminate attacks of those who have not participated may be dangerous as well? While the Lord of Light protects me, others that may be our allies may not have such defenses.

It is difficult to see among the many different shadows of the future shown by the flames, but with attacks on so many, while some characters may perish, I do not believe a player will be eliminated unless a number of characters alter their attacks or others join in. I do not feel comfortable about this...while many small flames are easily extinguished, a great burning pyre gives off powerful shadows and more easily brings clarity to those who seek it. I have not witnessed evidence of the falseness of those who have shared their thoughts, though I have no doubt the Lord of Light will guide his priestess' hand.

I have chosen The Most Interesting Man in the World as a great sacrifice to be given to the flames to please R'hllor.

The March Hare screams, "Clean Cup ! Clean cup, Moves down moves down!"
and bounces into someone else's seat.

The hatter looks sad, "aren't you all going to have some tea?"
"I'd rather have some P's and Q's" chuckles the hare, "Cuase there is no tea!"
"No tea? Oh me....I mean Oh My!"

The mad hatter tips his head and the immense hat rolls sideways down his arm and down the table. As it rolls past each setting a hot cup of tea slides into place. It does a figure eight back dispersing more tea and pots.

"Well? Come come don't be a stranger. " He tosses a cup to Beaker.

The Dormouse lifts his head coughing and sputtering from his now full teacup he was sleeping in. "I'm having a very very good time." he says.

"A song a song!" shouts the hatter.
"Time for a song" utters the hare trying to act bored.

The mouse lifts an umbrella from out of the tea and extends it. He immediately is rocketed up into the air. The wind gives him an air dry as he floats down. From above you, the mouse begins to sing,"

There will be much confusion for the first few days of this, but in time things will be revealed, and there will be a measure of clarity. Do not let the many voices and abilities distract from the ultimate goal - survival, eliminating the threats.

At the end of the day most of what has been said will likely be useless. But there will be information worth saving, worth storing. And in time it will be what saves us.

Nobody's giving me a strong enough wolfdar to sic all four of these guys on, so I'm just going to consolidate, lessen our kills.

THe Hatter and the March Hare are playing ping pong across the table with saucers and a cube of sugar. THen they see Cookie Monster move his foot.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!" shouts the Mad Hatter. "No fair sleeping on the job".
THe Hare starts to sing a mournful tune and ties the Mouse to a bottlerocket.
"Good night sweet mouse...." He lights it then plugs his ears. The rocket explodes in a myriad of colors and explodes in fireworks in the sky.

"Poor guy....he wouldn't hurt a mouse..."

The mouse floats down fluttering under the currents with his topcoat as a cail. He floats down to the table and lands in a pot of tea and sinks down into the bubbling liquid. THe Hatter takes the lid from his heart and places it over the pot.
He and the March Hare sob and cry crocodile tears. THen pour out the tea from the mouse's pot into their cups and drink.
"He would have loves this tea, " they sob.

"What about those other muppets," accuses the hare, "The mouse went to sleep on Gonzo nose. He sleeps anywhere, in fact, snoring was his only attack!"

"And how about Heavy? How's come Heavy takes zero damage. This hammer is insured for two bits. It's getting as if two bits ain't worth a quarter!"

Just to be clear regarding characters taking damage, just because a character was not listed as having died or being wounded, does not mean they did not take damage.

By design, no one knows how much damage someone has taken unless they are at or below 25% (per rules they are then listed as wounded. Everyone after the night phase will get a report of where they stand health wise.

I'm worried I am not providing enough information in order to help you make anything more than random guess at who to visit, so I will give a little more info as to how it works.

A character who will do one of three things to the person who "wins" or "defeats" them. A. An ability or item of some sort, B. Something negative, C. Nothing. Additonally each character who provides something positive has a specific trait they are looking for in deciding who wins or defeats them. If all else ends up equal, its random.

Danny
07-12-2011, 01:44 AM
And the trait they are looking for may be related to a game mechanic (such as most hp, etc.. or something related to the character (like say tallest, or oldest, etc...

The only way it makes sense is Miss Piggy must have had only 1 HP because Oscar only had 1 attack otherwise somebody else had to have used an ability. I'm guessing because you had so many characters that 1 or some got only 1 HP. Whether you confirm or not is up to you, not a big deal but that is my guess because Oscar is weaksauce.

Cookie Monster randomly attacked Dormouse because he stole one of his cookies. This is why the right said Cookie found a dead mouse under his foot. I had no control over that, the way I read his ability was that he got bonus attack against someone if they also stole one of his cookies that day but it appears he randomly attacks someone who took a cookie.

Cookie Monster only has 1 attack too so i'm guessing dormouse only had 1 HP as well.
